Daemon is firmly in control, using an expanded network of real-world, dispossessed darknet operatives to tear apart civilization and rebuild it anew. Soon civil war breaks out in the American Midwest, in a brutal wave of violence that becomes known as the Corn Rebellion. Former detective Pete Sebeck, now the Daemon's most powerful - though reluctant - operative, must lead a small band of enlightened humans toward a populist movement designed to protect the new world order. But the private armies of global business are preparing to crush the Daemon once and for all.

Got too political
Revisado: 02-15-21
The first book was ok. It was a decent techno thriller, even if it got a little wacky towards the end. But it was just good enough to go for the next one in the series.
But Freedom was not really a techno thriller at all. It felt like a lecture about how bad corporations are. Forget about killing cops and framing people for murder, lone greedy corpos are the real bad guys.

It really is a prequel, but also a good one
Revisado: 09-21-20
I liked the book, although it was really just starting to set things up by the time it was over. I will read the others.
I’m not a big fan of fantasy, but I really enjoyed A Song if Fire and Ice so I thought I would try this one. It’s not nearly as good as GoT, but it has a lot of potential and is not nearly as complicated.

Not as good as the first.
Revisado: 09-15-20
It was good. Very gory like the first one. So expect more of the same. Seemed a little too long. It got a little political too, but I ignored it.
All in all it was good and I’ll probably pick up the 3rd book because I like the writing.

Great and Terrible
Revisado: 09-03-20
This was a great book in a “Sophie’s Choice” type of way. It is a great fear of any parent and I could not put it down. I kept imagining what would I have done in the situation. I finished it I’m a couple of days and will recommend it to anyone who is a parent.

Not bad and not great
Revisado: 08-31-20
Overall it was a decent book and I don’t want my time back. With that being said it won’t win any awards and won’t be too memorable. Would probably make a good movie though
The narration was spectacular as I have listen to the narrator before and was great.
Don’t use a credit, but go for it on sale.

First half was great, but I struggled to finish
Revisado: 07-24-20
The first half of the book was excellent and I was excited to push forward. But then the book took a sharp turn in another direction and it lost all of the momentum that made it good. It was the way it was told. It was all recounts from transcripts and letters.
It worked fine for the first half as it was all from one letter. But then it got really weird. Perhaps this one would have been better to read instead of listen.
Also, it was too long for the story. Maybe would have been better as 2 books. Honestly I could have listened to the first half and put it down and felt satisfied. But I am a completionist and wanted to see it though.
Lastly, the performance was very good, but some of the voice acting for some characters was so annoying that I lost focus. Especially the last couple of hours.

Good mystery, but loser characters
Revisado: 06-11-20
This was a good mystery that kept me engaged in the story. The performance was great too. The only problem I had with the book is that everyone was a loser. Everyone deserved bad stuff to happen to them and I did not feel bad for any of the characters.

Felt like a reading assignment for a literature class
Revisado: 05-06-20
It was well written. The prose was very good and the author painted a beautiful picture of the mountain. That is about all that I can say was good. It was slow, very slow. And the ending was very anti-climatic. Will probably be made into a movie and will be one of these indie films that wins a lot of awards but the general public hates.

A little hard to follow
Revisado: 04-27-20
It was okay. A good book to pick up on sale. It was a little hard to follow at times and I figured out the twist. RC Bray is fantastic and makes everything better. I could listen to him read the phone book and it would get at least 2 stars.
