Historia
It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

A fantastic prequel
Revisado: 04-10-25
I put off reading this one when it first came out because I didn’t want to experience Snow’s POV. Then Sunrise on the Reaping came out and I knew I needed to read this first. It was fantastic to see a Capital perspective and build the history of the Hunger Games. Seeing Snow’s own struggles and his twisted mind helped with understanding how Snow is during Katniss’ games. I think my favorite was learning the origin of the Hanging Tree song Katniss sings during Mockingjay…

Historia
Lily isn’t exactly thrilled with her arrival in the Afterlife, but what awaits her there is more fantastical than she ever could have imagined: Deities wait in line at the coffee shop. Fae flit between realms. Souls find ways to make death a beginning. As she explores the many corners of the Afterlife, Lily finds herself surprisingly drawn to a place most people would avoid at all costs: Hell. Armed with years of customer service experience and pent-up sarcasm, Lily carves a job out for herself amongst Hell’s demons, sending souls to their rightful circles with more than a hint of sass.

But Jeanie’s arrival disrupts Logan’s routine and he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. Will Jeanie’s happy-go-lucky attitude win over the grumpy-but-gorgeous Logan, or has this city girl found the one person in town who won’t fall for her charm, or her pumpkin spice lattes.

Not worth the hype
Revisado: 10-13-24
I picked this up because of booktok… and the hype didn’t match what this book was. I went in expecting Gilmore Girls vibes and got chaotic Hallmark special instead. The story is rushed, the book formatting is so atrocious that I had to switch to audio to get through the book. And the spice was awkward… not continuing the series.

Historia
Evie Sage has never been happier to be the assistant to The Villain. Who would have thought that working for an outrageously handsome, evil overlord would be so rewarding? Still, the business of being bad is demanding, the forces of good are annoyingly persistent, and said forbidding boss is somewhat . . . out-of-evil-office. But Rennedawn is in trouble, and all signs—Kingsley's included—point to catastrophe. Something peculiar is happening with the kingdom's magic, and it's made The Villain's manor vulnerable to their enemies . . . including their nemesis, the king.

A revisit to a best friend
Revisado: 09-01-24
Returning to the world of Evie and the Villain is like visiting a long distance bestie after a long time apart. Their banter continues to make me giggle and kick my feet. I absolutely loved the other POVs we got along the way this time! Gave so much more depth to the journey and I loved it so very much.

Sullivan’s Crossing
Revisado: 07-29-24
I picked this one up cause I wanted to read the book before I watched Sullivan’s Crossing. I knew going in I would enjoy it because I loved the show Virgin River but this was my first read of one of Carr’s books. I enjoyed the highs and lows that both Maggie and Cal go through and getting the dual POV of what each was doing. I’ll definitely keep going in the series because I’m intrigued.

I cannot praise this book enough. Fantastic world building, dragons, unique magic system, and a twist I didn’t see coming. And the female main character having flaws just was icing on the cake. Book 2 cannot get here soon enough

New York Times best-selling author Eric Flint has received glowing critical praise for his Ring of Fire alternate history series. In this first installment, a West Virginia town is transported from the year 2000 to 1631 Germany at the height of the Thirty Years’ War. A strong Introduction
Revisado: 08-06-18
I came into this series without a clue of how long it really is. Glad I did though, George Guidall does a terrific job at easing you into the story and setting, and introducing the characters you will be loving for a long time.
A terrific book for roadtrips as well!
