The best part about the story is the characters, dialogue and voice acting. This was a perfect lesson for a few hours, highly recommend.

Deep is a voyage from the ocean's surface to its darkest trenches, the most mysterious places on Earth. Fascinated by the sport of freediving - in which competitors descend to great depths on a single breath - James Nestor embeds with a gang of oceangoing extreme athletes and renegade researchers. He finds whales that communicate with other whales hundreds of miles away, sharks that swim in unerringly straight lines through pitch-black waters, and other strange phenomena.

I leaned so much with this book!
Revisado: 08-06-18
This book was incredible and was impossible to put down. I loved how they introduced me to the world of freediving and the world around it. It's still crazy to me how the body adapts and changes to handle being underwater. I can't wait to read again!

Historia
California now has more trees than at any time since the late Pleistocene. This green landscape, however, is not the work of nature. It’s the work of history. In the years after the Gold Rush, American settlers remade the California landscape, harnessing nature to their vision of the good life. Horticulturists, boosters, and civic reformers began to "improve" the bare, brown countryside, planting millions of trees to create groves, wooded suburbs, and landscaped cities.

I loved this book!
Revisado: 04-16-18
This book was fantastic for anyone who is curious about California's history. I live in Riverside, a major player in the citrus industry discussed in this book. While I personally loved the citrus aspect, all four of the tree's history in the state were fascinating. I never knew tree's had such an impact on California's success. I hope to re-read this book again soon as it was smartly written, well organized and full of stories of how these trees impacted those who lived among them.

A good start for the beginner
Revisado: 10-13-16
If you're looking for an in-depth book this isn't it. Although this book is great for the total beginner to get familiar with the concepts and techniques of making beer. Most of this information you could probably get elsewhere for free, however I personally enjoy listening to audiobooks and this was a great start.

Any additional comments?
If you are a dad whose spouse suffers from PPD, I recommend this book wholeheartedly as a starting point in your search for PPD support. Some reviewers mentioned this book is nothing more than a list of bullet points. While there are short chapters and bullet points everywhere, I found this book had many insightful suggestions. Almost all of the bullet points has several sentences. Personally, I think they could have just removed them and help make the flow a little better; the bullet points do make it easy to find information in bite-sized chunks. This book was very helpful as a dad whose spouse is suffering from PPD. There are many practical suggestions as to how and why I should do certain things. While I have yet to practice many of the ideas listed in this book, I feel like I better understand.

Not what I was expecting

Any additional comments?
This book was not as helpful as I thought it would be. Most of it seemed like describing depression rather than how to help someone going through depression. While I do have a better understanding of depression, I'll see myself needing to search elsewhere to find out how to help someone going through this. Regardless, if you want a basic understanding on how depression works, this is a good place to start without taking up too much time to listen too.

Historia
On January 7, 1980, in the run-up to the publication of his landmark best seller Thy Neighbor's Wife, Gay Talese received an anonymous letter from a man in Colorado. "Since learning of your long-awaited study of coast-to-coast sex in America," the letter began, "I feel I have important information that I could contribute to its contents or to contents of a future book." The man went on to tell Talese an astonishing secret: that he had bought a motel to satisfy his voyeuristic desires.

This was an odd book. Most times it was difficult to tell if it truly was fact or just longing of an voyeur. Regardless, it was fascinating to listen to. I enjoyed every minute of the book, even though it made me feel like a voyeur myself by just listening to this powerful and compelling story.

Historia
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.
