Incomplete When Compared to Print Book
Revisado: 08-08-18
I really enjoyed the stories, and I would give this 5 stars--except that many of the stories in the print version aren't included in the audiobook.

Historia
From "one of the funniest writers in America" comes a collection of stories culled from the front lines of the millennial culture wars. Rife with failing rock bands, student loans, and participation trophies,
Spoiled Brats is about a generation of narcissists - and the well-meaning boomers who made them that way.

Rich's stories are well laid out in a humorous, satiric manner. Loved the book.

Historia
In Idiot Brain, Dr. Dean Burnett celebrates blind spots, blackouts, insomnia, and all the other downright laughable things our minds do to us while also exposing the many mistakes we've made in our quest to understand how our brains actually work. This is the best kind of popular science - lucid, funny, and whip smart - from a debut author who will be tickling funny bones and firing neurons for a long time to come.

Great Book--Poor Narration
Revisado: 10-06-17
I really love the content of the book. The narration is awful--the narrator is heard inhaling after every phrase or sentence.

Historia
Father Greg Lockwood is unlike any Catholic priest you have ever met - a man who lounges in boxer shorts, who loves action movies, and whose constant jamming on the guitar reverberates "like a whole band dying in a plane crash in 1972". His daughter is an irreverent poet who long ago left the church's country. When an unexpected crisis leads her and her husband to move back into her parents' rectory, their two worlds collide.

Wonderful Writing but not Much of a memioir
Revisado: 09-07-17
Read this book if you like wonderful use of the English language. It's really not much of memoir, i.e., anecdotes of one's life.

Historia
The Etymologicon is a completely unauthorized guide to the strange underpinnings of the English language. It explains: How you get from “gruntled” to “disgruntled”; why you are absolutely right to believe that your meager salary barely covers “money for salt”; how the biggest chain of coffee shops in the world (hint: Seattle) connects to whaling in Nantucket; and what precisely the Rolling Stones have to do with gardening.

Fascinating How Words are Connected
Revisado: 08-31-17
Wonderful for anyone interested in words, or for that matter, trivia. My only complaint is that there's so much information, I was tempted to take notes.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Interesting, but a bit disjointed
Revisado: 11-28-16
What did you love best about Born a Crime?
It's an excellent view of Trevor growing up during, and after apartheid, but the telling has a tendency to jump in time so much, it is sometimes confusing.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Stay a little closer to a chronological story line.
Which character – as performed by Trevor Noah – was your favorite?
Trevor's mother. He characterizes her strong personality well. It helps that Trevor can quote her in her first language, which is from Africa.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
yYes, late in the book. I don't want to give anything away, but it is a major incident in Trevor's family's lives.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Focus is too Narrow
Revisado: 07-27-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I would barely say yes--it does raise some interesting points.
What could Yuval Noah Harari have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I would like to see the book more encompassing of the rise and lasting effects of early civilizations. To cite one example, virtually no time is spent on the origins of the Abrahamic religions, one of the most influential events affecting today's world.
Have you listened to any of Derek Perkins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Could you see Sapiens being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
As it stands, no.
