Historia
When nineteen-year-old Jill Moss goes missing near the Utah-Arizona border, everyone has an opinion. Only Norma Gallagher, a search and rescue volunteer, knows the real story. Norma’s already found Jill, huddled in a cave and terrified that her abusive boyfriend, Jake, will kill her. If he ever sees her again. To protect Jill from a dangerous man, Norma quietly delivers the girl to her grateful parents in California, even though she’s conflicted. Keeping Jill safe and hidden from Jake, the press, and the public will be their secret. But secrets can’t last forever.

So interesting
Revisado: 05-25-24
I love this author, read almost everything she has ever written. While all of her books offer something to ponder, this one is special. Particularly (hopefully without too much disclosure) is her character's philosophy on relationship abuse…and news reporting. At one point Norma says “I miss Walter Cronkite, he reported the news and you got to take it from there.” No garbage in the middle, and no telling us what we should or should not think. I know many reviews didn’t love the book…I did. Guess that’s all I can say…you can take it from there. I really like the main character.

Good book.

Way better than expected. Listened on a long drive, made the miles speed by. Highly recommend. Narrators were not consistent with pronunciation of some names. I found that irritating...probably just me, the wannabe perfectionist! Well worth buying!!

Historia
When Captain Kyle Mercer of the Army’s elite Delta Force disappeared from his post in Afghanistan, a video released by his Taliban captors made international headlines. But circumstances were murky: Did Mercer desert before he was captured? Then a second video sent to Mercer’s Army commanders leaves no doubt: The trained assassin and keeper of classified Army intelligence has disappeared.

Awesome book!
Revisado: 11-28-19
I have listened to everything of Nelson DeMille’s I can find. Many more than once. This book did not disappoint. All new characters (yes, I adored John Corey), and these are just as fleshed out, dimensional, and believable as the ones who got me “hooked” 15 years ago. Oh, how his audible books make my hours on the treadmill and lifting weights fly by painlessly...well, almost anyway. And for me, I refuse to imagine a DeMille book without the voice of Scott Brick in my ears! Bring on more, DeMille(s)/Brick, please. I can hardly wait!!

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Incredible read
Revisado: 12-01-11
OK, so I've never been motivated before to write a review (hard to please? Maybe). This was one incredible novel, fascinating, tearful, joyful. I'm a fan of King anyway, but this was way over the top of "excellent" and no gore...for those of you who avoid him because of that. Reader was outstanding, I listen while I work, so I got a lot done since I couldn't stop!!!

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

I've never reviewed a book before (and have been a member for a long, long time). To say this novel is good is a gross understatement. It is exciting, riveting, and, best of all, thought provoking. Since I listen while I do housework, sometimes I drift...not here. Truly captures the listener from word one and never lets go! I've always enjoyed Stephen King's novels immensely and this is his best to date. Character development is outstanding (very important to me to "identify"). So glad Mr. King didn't give up on it. Raul Esparza is a fabulous narrator and this is a premium recording. Absolutely worth every minute invested!

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

I've never entered my own review before...read a lot of them before I purchase a book, though. While I enjoyed the book, I will be hesitant to purchase a book narrated by this reader in the future. I don't know whether it was a problem with where his microphone was placed or what, but I could hear every swallow, licking of lips, even heard laughing in the background on one occasion...very distracting! Very poor recording (or, as my husband pontificated, maybe too good). Where is Scott Brick when you need him...I've never heard him swallow and I've listened to almost every book he's ever narrated. People pay good money for these listens every month...clean up the narration...Shame!!!!
