Historia
There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

Almost doesn't feel like Abby wrote this.
Feels very YA. Also feels like an Ode to BookTok with all the cringe references.
In this world Abby create, everyone apparently not only knows who "Rhysand" is, but also knows what he looks like.
I've been a romance reader for ages. ACOTAR is one of my favorite series, and still, there's literally no one in my real day-to-day life that I can just throw out the name "Rhysand" to and they'll just know who or what I'm talking about. No one.
Again, the writing was very BookTok-y. There's literally a line that said something like, "his jawline is a paid actor."
Like, come on. What the hell is this? I'm too old for this. I expected better from Abby. Pre-ordered this months ago and was eagerly waiting for it to drop.
Very disappointed.
Authors, get of off BookTok and stop letting it influence your writing. It's cringe.

There's more!
Revisado: 02-21-25
I recently read the complete apocrypha after wanting to do so for a long time and it was quite an interesting read. But I had no idea there were *more* books of Enoch, so this one was a treat!
This collection offers a deeper dive into ancient texts that didn’t make it into the Bible. The Slavonic and the Hebrew editions differ in tone and content compared to this first.
While “1 Enoch” was more abstract and divine, often veering into mysterious spirituality, “2 Enoch: Slavonic” dives into the early Christian era and offers a more vivid and mystical account of Enoch's journey to Heaven, where Enoch is taken through various heavenly realms, encountering angelic beings and learning divine secrets.
“3 Enoch: Hebrew” centers on the transformation of Enoch, offering a fascinating narrative about Enoch’s ascension to a divine role.
Overall, more insights on angels, the Nephilim, prophesies, and visions of heaven. Some parts were incredibly vivid and engaging, while some parts were dense and difficult to get through or just confusing in general. But that’s expected with ancient writings.
One thing I appreciated was how organized this collection was. The translations are clear, and the inclusion of multiple texts give a fuller picture of how these writings evolved.
If you’re into biblical history, theology, or just enjoy exploring hidden or forgotten texts, this collection is worth listening to. It’s no light reading, but it’s definitely enlightening! Just take your time with it.
The narration was fairly good. A time or two, there was some obvious throat clearing that should’ve been edited out, but it didn’t detract from the listening experience.
Highly recommend for those who love diving into ancient texts and expanding their understanding of religious history.

Love Ali. But I just didn't connect with this one.
Didn't like how the MC's got together. Literally because they had the same smexual preference.
There was no real chemistry.
For me, personally, no amount of hot scenes matter if the chemistry between the MCs is lacking.

Wish it was longer.
Revisado: 11-05-24
This has all the bones for a REALLY great story, which is why I wish it was longer.
There was too much going on here to be a novella. As a result the "romance" was almost non-existent.
I would love to read this again as a longer story with more development because the bones strong enough to make this a banger.
Still, I enjoyed what's this for what it was, but I wouldn't classify it as a romance at all.

For centuries, The Book of Enoch has intrigued scholars, theologians, and seekers of truth. This ancient manuscript, once considered lost, reveals a universe of angelic beings, divine secrets, and cosmic battles. It challenges conventional religious thought, offering a glimpse into the pre-flood world and the cosmic order as envisioned by its author.

Intriguing and Insightful
Revisado: 09-19-24
The Book of Enoch has been on my “been meaning to” list for quite some time. As a daily reader of the acknowledged Bible, the briefly mentioned “Enoch” has always intrigued me. The righteous prophet who was suddenly “taken up” by God. And when I learned that there’s an entire collection of his that was excluded from the canonical Bible, I knew I had to read it.
Finally, I got the chance.
The Book of Enoch is a fascinating comprehensive collection of cosmological reflections, apocalyptic visions, and accounts of fallen angels. While the translation is fluid and easy to follow, it still maintains some archaic language, which might not be easily digestible for some. Personally, I prefer the text to be as close to the original as possible—which is exactly what this version gave.
The flow and organization are well done. There’s an insightful commentary at the end of each ‘book’, which I greatly appreciate. However, I do wish the commentaries were more in-depth and expanded on for better understanding/perspective of the passages. But that’s most likely *not* the objective of this edition. The hunger for more is all on *me*, not the book!
I liked the narrator enough, he had the right amount of verve and fervor for the material—albeit a tad bit speedy with his words (I did have to reduce the playback speed to get a nice immersive pace that these passages, and archaic language, require.)
All in all, I’m happy to have finally read The Book of Enoch. I particularly enjoyed “The Book of the Watchers” and “Fragments of the Book of Noah” the most.
While “The Astronomical Book” made my eyes gloss over—ha!—this is indeed an invaluable source for those of us who are curious about the mysterious missing books. I’ll say that I kind of “get” why it was disregarded from the canonical Bible, but I’ll keep my thoughts on that to myself. It’s better for everyone to read for themselves and form their own opinions.
I’ll be going right back to the beginning to give this a second listen, even slower this time.
Highly recommend!
