Good foundation, felt incomplete
Revisado: 12-06-24
This book wasn't horrible but wasn't great in my opinion. It started off interesting and seemed to fall short half way through. I felt as though there were a lot of questions raised without a resolution.

Fell in Love
Revisado: 09-21-22
This is the first book I've listened to from this author and I absolutely loved it, I finished it in two days. It was so nice to hear a book that was not only romantic and funny, but with people who weren't so dependent on each other that they couldn't have their own lives. I was so involved, I actually thought about researching the band! I had to remind myself it was a fictional story.

The king of the underworld saved me from the streets, treated me like a princess, and locked me in a tower. Then, he turned into a beast. There's a darkness in him. I've seen it face-to-face. He says I'm his light. But if our love is going to last, I'm going to have to be more than his princess. I need to become a queen.

Happy when it eneded
Revisado: 12-23-19
I listened to this book because I’d listened to book one… which ended in a cliffhanger that annoyed me, but led me to book two. Book two was underwhelming but I’d gone this far, I decided to complete the series. Out of the hundreds of books I’ve read/listened to, Cora is one of my least favorite leading women. Her immaturity, lack of common sense and indecisiveness was nerve wrecking. There were several times when I skipped her endless inner monologues and I do not feel I missed anything that added to the story. However, I was very happy when Charo told her she needed to grow up! The ending seemed rushed, as if the authors were over the series as well. Even with the ending and her accepting her new role/life (at the ripe old age of 20), it just didn’t seem to fit. I’m glad this series is finally over.

I’m king of the criminal underworld. I always get what I want. And she’s my obsession. Cora is new to the city of sin. Her innocent blue eyes beg for me to claim her. But I’m not the billionaire she thinks I am. There’s a darkness within me. And Cora is a shining light. She’s beautiful. A virgin. I’m ruthless. A beast. She found me for a reason. She’ll be my queen. I’ll give her everything that her heart desires. Except for one thing. Her freedom. She’s mine to keep, and I’m never letting her go.

Unsure how to feel
Revisado: 11-16-19
I think my feelings are just as confused about this book as the feelings of the characters in this book. I definitely enjoyed the book until a twist was revealed, after that point my feelings changed as the tone of the book changed. This book left me feeling indifferent and at times annoyed. I think the worst part is this book ends on a cliffhanger and the other books are not available on Audible. So, now what?

Six years, two bands, and one mostly mended heart later, Kit’s about to make her rock star dreams a reality as the new guitarist for Shawn’s band, The Last Ones to Know. Pointing out the obvious....
Revisado: 10-17-18
I did not hate the book, but I can't say I would recommend it. The narration was good; however, Kit's immaturity was annoying. I felt there was a lot of rambling inner monologue from Kit that felt repetitive and pointless. Once the obvious was pointed out, I started to like the book better; but it took a long time to get to that point.

Historia
If anyone asks, I knew better than to flash my boobs for Mardi Gras beads. I still don't know why I did it. Maybe it was the dare from my two best friends. Maybe it was the guys on the balcony saying they'd throw Fireball shots with the beads. Or maybe it was the quiet guy in the corner of that same balcony with piercing gray eyes, wavy dark hair, and a smile so tempting I wanted to climb up there and lick it off his face. Maybe it was because I never thought I'd see them again. Not that it matters. Not today. Because the hotel I manage was finally bought.

Slightly Disappointed
Revisado: 09-17-18
I enjoyed the fact there wasn’t an unrealistic amount of drama in this book, but at the same time, it also bordered on boring in some areas. There were a few cute moments, but it wasn’t laugh out loud funny like I expected. I wasn’t happy with the ending, but I won’t go into any details in order to prevent a spoiler. Simply stated, the book is “okay” but not something I feel I would listen to again.

All questions answered..
Revisado: 05-28-18
I really enjoyed the first book and had to listen to this one to have a resolution. Before downloading this book, I was concerned it would be somewhat repetitive of the first and therefore could have been combined with the first; I feel I was partly correct in that assessment. To be clear, I do not feel this was a bad book; I am just not a fan of stories being made into two books when it could have fit into one. However, I am glad all questions were answered and everything was tied up in this book. Overall, I enjoyed Cassie and Ethan’s story and how realistic it felt. It wasn’t all fairytale and insta-love which was a nice change.

Cassie Taylor was just another acting student with big dreams at her prestigious performing arts college…then she met Ethan Holt. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy on campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing on stage, Cassie and Ethan's epic romance seemed destined. Until it ended in tragedy when he shattered her heart. Now they've made it to Broadway where they're reunited as romantic leads once again.

It had me until the last minute....
Revisado: 05-28-18
I was drawn to this story from the beginning. Andi Arndt in an excellent narrator, so there weren’t any doubts there. I enjoyed how the story slowly developed between the past and present. I really enjoyed how present Cassie didn’t immediately fall back into Ethan’s arms. I enjoyed how their story was more realistic and not so “fairytale”. Everything was good for me until the end…. Cliffhanger. I seriously hate those. Would I recommend this book? Yes. However, I personally enjoy longer books instead of books being split into two. On to downloading the second book....

Could not finish....
Revisado: 08-29-17
I wish I had thought to filter by recent reviews before getting this book.
I love romantic comedies and that’s why I chose this book, however, May is too immature to be real. She is 29 years old and completely clueless. The situations she gets herself into aren’t funny, just stupid. I wonder if having a different narrator would have helped because she makes her sound even more clueless.
It took me four tries to make it to chapter seven and then I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Loved until the last word.
Revisado: 04-06-17
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I will admit, as other’s have stated, there were times where the narrator seemed to be a bit much. However, after listening for a while I became accustomed to her style and thought it was appropriate for most situations. I also loved that this book was two stories intertwined into one. Some people may not like this, but I’ve listened to books this long or longer that just seemed to drag on and on with my final thought being about how much shorter the book could have been. This story kept you engaged and focused on several things at once which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed that this book wasn’t as predictable as others. This is my first book from this author and I hope his others are just as interesting.
