Really like Jolie/Rocket and the positive portrayal of women
Revisado: 10-21-23
BRAs ranch is a place I’d like to visit. Another fun story with Dot, Jolie, and Mike with a new twist when a mother/daughter team turn up at the ranch in need of a safe space. The alluring thing about the Dry Bridge series so far is non of the characters are cookie cutters or perfect, they’re human, flawed, and therefore relatable.
Another excellent narration by Danielle Rayne! I hope to hear more from cast of characters, and their narrator!

Crime drama with heart (and horses), excellent narration
Revisado: 09-09-23
The narrator is so wonderful to listen to, her clarity in characters is stronger than a lot of audio book narrators out there (and I listen to a LOT of audio books).
The story is a fun who done it with an anti heroine I found an instant connection with. Her connection to horses, to California, to protecting land all while trying to figure out what is happening. It has some poignant life lessons that can be drawn from the way way Jolie chooses patience with the wild mustangs.
A really fun mystery set in the valleys of California. The author describes the locations with such thoughtfulness I could literally see the landscape.
And the characters are marvelous, diverse and eclectic. Very excited to listen to the second book!
Thank you for gifting us with a copy! I am hooked by the performance and the story. Can’t wait to finish it

Historia
In The Power, the world is a recognizable place: There's a rich Nigerian boy who lounges around the family pool; a foster kid whose religious parents hide their true nature; an ambitious American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But then a vital new force takes root and flourishes, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power: They can cause agonizing pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world drastically resets.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book
Revisado: 05-12-23
I almost didn’t buy this book on audible because of all of the reviews about the ending being a disappointment. I have to say that everyone has their own experience and enjoyment for how a story unfolds and ends, but I have read way worse endings that abruptly slap you in the face out of nowhere and you’re left wondering why you wasted the time reading the book.
This is not one of those books!
The entire story is laid out from beginning to end, and while I wish I could’ve had 100 more pages to go on the journey, that is the power of these women, the ending felt earned and was well set up. I look forward to seeing what Amazon does with the series, as one of the wonderful things about moving IP from the page to the screen is getting to expand on the characters and the worlds in which they reside.
Another complaint for some was the performance - that the voices were less than enjoyable, and I agree that the southern voices are grating, but I wonder how much of that is by choice as Margo and Joss are some of the less likable characters in the book. All the other voices (and there are a lot) we’re fine.
I thought this was a wonderful story; and interesting commentary on our society and flipping the patriarchy. Definitely an enjoyable read and I might even re-read again in the future.
