Endings are difficult
Revisado: 11-21-16
I don't know if there will be another book in the series but Deep Sky as an ending to the series is ok. Not great but it tries to tie up loose ends and explain the mysteries of the story.
There are good twists and the action is fun. There are sections that drag a bit, especially when it seems the author wants to dump a lot of information quickly. Enjoyed overall.

Historia
On June 30, 1908, an object fell from the sky, releasing more energy than a thousand Hiroshima bombs. A Siberian forest was flattened, but the strike left no significant crater. The anomaly came to be known as the Tunguska Event, and scientists have never agreed whether it was the largest meteor strike in recorded history - or something else. Alien artifacts have been uncovered since the 1908 event, and a new star drive is discovered.

Not very good
Revisado: 05-10-16
This is my first book by B.V. Larson and from barely finishing it and from other reviews it seems it was not the best way to start with his work. The 4 star rating for this is WAY off the mark.
Don't expect much scifi here, there's a lot of hand waving when discussing the actual technology the protagonists end up using. By the third act when the setting of the story changes, the main cast of characters go from being interesting and believable people to soap opera cheesy and predictable.
Finally I have to say that the stereotyping of nationalities and character roles are many years past their fresh date. Russians and vodka, cold hearted and mission-blinded military among others are ridiculous and overdone. Sad to say I recommend you skip this one.

When Derek Sivers started CD Baby, he wasn’t planning on building a major business. He was a successful independent musician who just wanted to sell his CDs online. When no one would help him do it, he set out on his own and built an online store from scratch. He started in 1998 by helping his friends sell their CDs. In 2000, he hired his first employee. Eight years later, he sold CD Baby for $22 million. Sivers didn’t need a business plan, and neither do you.

A straightforward to the point motivational book.

I enjoyed the down to earth, clear advice Derek shares. It may be that not everything here applies to what you do specifically but the core of the advice is solid. I know I'll be revisiting the lessons presented here often.

A must for fans but not as good as the rest
Revisado: 03-12-16
I love everything Peter writes and enjoyed visiting back with the Heroes but this one feels half baked. I always thought a story focusing more on Corpse Girl would be great but I'm left wondering why she wasn't given a chance to use her abilities in cool ways or be more than a passenger here.
The villain is not that interesting even though the main location where things happen was very clever, and had so much more potential. The unbreakables plot I felt was a bit forced as well.
Narration is fantastic, these characters come to life with the voice actors we've come to love. I love this series and I hope future plots have the fun, edgy scary vibe from previous books.

Fun, cool world if you like YA novels
Revisado: 01-08-15
I got this when I saw most reviews were really positive and I agree it's a fun ride in an interesting world. As I listened I started noticing something off and it's just that I didn't realize/check that it's a YA novel. It's very good for the genre, you just have to like YA stories.

Historia
Former DOJ cybercrimes prosecutor Chris Bruen walks into a dark apartment in Amsterdam to confront a hacker known as Black Vector. The hacker has stolen the source code for the world’s most ubiquitous operating system, which powers everything from personal computers to the NSA’s data centers. This should have been a routine assignment for Bruen, but instead of obtaining a confession, Bruen finds the hacker’s dead body and uncovers a hidden flash drive that contains the code for a remarkably sophisticated computer virus known as Lurker.

Uneven, make sure you like the narration style.
Revisado: 11-28-14
This book has a good premise even though by now you've probably read similar stories so it's a bit predictable. The book felt uneven, some parts have a good serious thriller vibe but then other parts have dialogue and plot points that take silly turns bordering on childish.
The narrator does his best but his cadence and style contribute to the goofy sense of things. Some of the characters sound like stereotypes especially law enforcement agents. Female characters are not his strength and there's a childish-storyteller tone that got distracting pretty quickly.

Entertaining techno thriller
Revisado: 08-21-12
I've read both previous novels by Daniel Suarez and have enjoyed them quite a bit. If you like his previous work this one won't disappoint. I think Daemon is probably the best of the three.
What's really amazing is the frightening fact that reality is so close to the story of military drones in the book.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Fun read but feels a bit lost at the end
Revisado: 07-14-12
Scalzi's sense of humour is always enjoyable. The premise of the story is really interesting since for the first time we get to see the lives of all those redshirts on the ship.
Biggest problem for me is that it started loosing steam 3/4 of the way in. The ending feels a bit like a left turn without reason. The codas also seemed slow and gave the book a different tone which wasn't even close to how the book started.

Historia
The meeting place was carefully chosen: an abandoned church in rural Ireland just after dark. For Jonathan Quinn--a freelance operative and professional "cleaner" - the job was only to observe. If his cleanup skills were needed, it would mean things had gone horribly wrong. But an assassin hidden in a tree assured just that. And suddenly Quinn had four dead bodies to dispose of and one astounding clue - to a mystery that is about to spin wildly out of control.

Feels like a soap opera
Revisado: 01-03-11
I bought this book based on all the positive reviews I read and I found that the story is really good. The plot is interesting but the way it's told just didn't work for me at all. I love Scott Brick's work but the combination of his style with the sometimes ridiculous dialogues just made it too campy.
The heroes take time to have long unnecessary conversations in the middle of the action, even while in grave danger! It just didn't have a spy/thriller flow.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

Epic SF opera. Really enjoyed it!
Revisado: 05-20-09
If you are into LONG stories with many characters (there's a lot of people to keep track of here) then this is a great option. The premise is intriguing and the science aspect is cool. Interstellar dynasties, planetary corporations and a great variety of characters make it a fun book.
Be aware you'll have to read Judas Unchained (the second and final book) to finish the story (another 40hrs) so it's a commitment for sure.
Personally I loved it. Takes a little time to get into the narrator doing all the voices but it works. Overall a great book with a complex story and fun action sequences.
