Historia
In 1963, with the city of Boston already terrified by a series of savage crimes known as the Boston Stranglings, a murder occurred in Belmont, just a few blocks from the house of Sebastian Junger's family, a murder that seemed to fit exactly the pattern of the Strangler. Roy Smith, a black man who had cleaned the victim's house that day, was convicted, but the terror of the Strangler continued.

Engrossing and fast paced.
Revisado: 06-18-12
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed the interview of Sebastian Junger and his description of the depth and breadth of research into the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was moved by the link to the civil rights and criminal justice issues to the murder of Bessie Goldberg. The descriptions of the Southern home town of Roy Smith gave a good backdrop for his personal history and a glimpse into the post WWII Jim Crow South.

What's missing from the hundreds of diets on the market to help us achieve healthier bodies? "The most important element," teaches Dr. Steven Gurgevich, "is not in the body, but in your mind." As a key member of Dr. Andrew Weil's physician's training program, Dr. Gurgevich has brought hypnosis to the forefront of modern medicine.

Surprisongly effective

As a skeptic who had never tried self-hypnosis, I bought this audiobook to help me make some major changes in my life. My first listen was superficial and I was tempted to dismiss the suggestions as sounding 'cheesy.' But as a seeker of personal growth, I finally gave the program the attention and focus it deserves. After several weeks, I finally realized that my cravings had been lifted and belief that I could succeed moved into my life and the choices I make.

Historia
Daniel Pecan Cambridge, 30, 35, 38 or 27, depending on how he feels that day, is a young man whose life is rich and full, provided he never leaves his Santa Monica apartment. After all, outside there are 8-inch-high curbs and there's always the horrible chance he might see a gas station attendant wearing a blue hat. So, except for the occasional trip to the Rite Aid to admire the California girl Zandy and to buy earplugs because they're on sale, he stays home a lot. And good thing, too.

Amusing with heart
Revisado: 10-02-08
Light and funny, the emphasis on 'light'. I guess the novella as art from does not allow for much character development. However, the protagonist here was endearing and the story unfolded as an unconventional love story, that had a sweet, unlikely ending. The author showed a lot of compassion for the main character--- this saved the piece from being an enlongated New Yorker fictional oddity.

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

A Fascinating, Family and Genetic Story
Revisado: 10-02-08
This is the first time I had been immediately drawn into an audiobook where I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this audiobook--- the story is compelling, the narration lively and the story is so detailed, I got as much or more on the second listen than on the first.

Historia
For those who are seeking a path of simplicity, not bound by the trappings of spiritual practice, Adyashanti brings a fresh and humble approach to Zen wisdom. "Don't think that awakening is the end," teaches Adyashanti. "Awakening is the end of seeking, the end of the seeker, but it is the beginning of a life lived from your true nature."

This is the best fromat I have listened to of the teachings of this emerging teacher of enlightenment. There are only the teachings, dialogues have been omitted. Recommended for would-be students and veterans alike.
