Magdalene's POV
Revisado: 04-19-24
Amazing companion to The Headmistress. It was so great to experience the story through Magdalene's eyes, and see how everything affected her.
Readers absolutely need to have read The Headmistress before enjoying this book, as it's written with the presumption that the readers know what's happening at any given point, and doesn't go into too much detail in scenes that have already played out in the first book.

Kinda loved everything about this
Revisado: 07-02-23
This story was so fun and engaging. The characters were relatable; both with their own heart break and trust issues, all of which were realistic and not overplayed. I definitely identified with their feelings of wanting to love and trust, but having been burned before and wanting to have learned from their mistakes.
Plus, the narrator sounded like if the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz had a lovechild. There's just something about those northerner accents that I can't get enough of.
Also, some people claimed that the voices all sounded the same, but I disagree. This narrator may not do as glaringly different voices as, say, Angela Daw or Abby Craden, but each character did have a distinct voice and I never had trouble telling the characters apart.
10/10, will listen again

Onyx: I'm a city wolf - a damaged and injured one at that. Obviously, the absolute last place I should be when I'm in heat is in the middle of the woods with unmated male shifters in the wild able to scent me. But here I am, running for my life. I'm not used to anyone being nice to me, let alone helping me. Even being the daughter of a pack alpha doesn't keep you safe when you're the lone freak in your pack who can't shift. I'm being hunted out here in the woods, and yet somehow I feel safe on the doorstep of the big, brusque stranger who offers me sanctuary.

Not a typical alpha brute
Revisado: 12-20-22
I really enjoyed the fact that the big bad bear alpha wasn't a testosterone filled brute and genuinely cared about the well-being of the she wolf. It was great to break away from that ridiculous two dimensional alpha trope that saturates the omegaverse scene. I prefer ff omegaverse stories, though, which generally just have a more sincere feel. I understand that's not everyone's bag, though, so take it for what it is.
Both lead characters are strong and willful, and the story was interesting and had real substance to it. Solid A grade.

The Movie Was Amazing, But...
Revisado: 11-22-22
God, this story is phenomenal. This book is even better than the movie, which was already mind blowing. The narration was superb, too. I'm looking into the next book in the series now, for sure.

Four and a half years have passed since the Battle of the Empress's Last Stand, the battle that sealed the fate of the East and ended Empress Natasia's reign. The War in the East is finally over, but it didn't end the way the Empire anticipated. Linna isn't ready for the war to be over, and she's also not convinced that the Empress and Joslyn of Terinto, the Commander of the Empress's Palace Guard, are actually gone forever. To find out what really happened during that last battle, Linna has traveled alone to the East.

Phenomenal Series!
Revisado: 11-14-22
This series is so incredibly, skillfully written. It keeps you fully engaged and eager the whole way through. The narration is superb, the characters are complex and real, and the story is fascinating. I'm going to listen to this series many more times, and I'm going to buy the physical books as well. 100% recommend to all people teen and up. I, myself, am 35. These books are more than worth the credit!

Historia
Pop star Leontyne Blake might sing about love, but she stopped believing in it a long time ago. What women want is her image, not the real her. When her father has a stroke, she flees the spotlight and returns to her tiny Missouri hometown. In her childhood home, she meets small-town nurse Holly Drummond, who isn't impressed by Leo's fame at all. That isn't the only thing that makes Holly different from other women. She's also asexual. For her, dating is a minefield of expectations that she has decided to avoid.

cute story, distracting narration
Revisado: 10-20-22
The story itself was entertaining and very good overall, but I didn't enjoy the narration very much. I've liked Lori Prince in other audiobooks, but for some reason she read this one as though everything was a punchline. She was always sort of half shouting, and almost everything was said with a goofy voice. It seemed like she had a lot of fun narrating, but it just took away from the experience for me as a listener.
Lori Prince is usually a good narrator, so it's possible that she read this exactly the way the author wanted her to. It was just too much for me, though.
I won't be listening to this story again, but I might read it.

Historia
An abandoned old house in a small town northeast of Houston is the site of a second murder, eerily similar to a supposed cold case of 14 years earlier. FBI Agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are dispatched to find the link between the two homicides. The team, including Ice and Billy, find the case to be anything but cold. For CJ and Paige, juggling the investigation while trying to keep their love affair a secret proves to be as hard as uncovering long-buried clues.

This story is ridiculous! It is SO extra! And I was thoroughly entertained. I kept laughing out loud and shaking my head in parts, but I never really got the urge to give up on it. I think it's worth it for a fun listen. I don't regret the credit spent, and I think I'll continue through the series

Fairly Entertaining Romance
Revisado: 09-27-22
The whodunit was rather predictable and the plot twists all followed the standard formula. The narrator only used one voice for all of the female characters and only maybe 2 or 3 for the males. There were points where I didn't know which female was talking, but I wasn't heavily invested in this story so it didn't bother me all that much. This was just something light that I listened to while sorting papers at work.
It wasn't a waste of a credit, per se, but I don't imagine that I'll be listening to it again.
Overall, not my favorite but it was entertaining enough.
