The entire series - good story but too much "sex"
Revisado: 09-29-23
First off, good enough to listen to the books - yes, I've listened to the entire series. (sorry for any spoilers)
That being said, the metahuman world the author created is a decent one. They aren't freaks, they are revered. They are equal or better than their counterparts on every level without being cocky about it (too often). Good backstories, good "why are there metahumans" storyline, and decent character building for each character along the way. You will love some of the characters, you will HATE some of them (even if they aren't a villain), and you will feel empathy for some of them (several near losses). You will agonize with them. when you need to, but you won't ever feel like they are superman (starchy superior over-the-top powers).
NOW - to the part that I didn't like. Ok, I get it, the books are MM romance novels for the most part. Written by someone who is familiar with MF romances apparently. Stereotypical "go out for a hookup and fall in love forever" stuff. Throughout the entire series - every relationship is have sex, fall in love, get married. Sorry, that's not the gay world. It's not even the straight world. It's fictional nonsense that gets old quickly in the series. Thankfully, decent characters hold you together long enough to skip entire chapters.
Wait - did I just say skip entire chapters? Yep, I sure did. Now the stuff I hated. Full chapters, often 20+ minutes (and I listen on 1.3x speed, so expect longer) of what equates to boring sex. Over and over. Back with stereotypical dom/sub nonsense that quickly becomes a turn off. I found myself using the 30 second skip ahead to skim over it. Again and again. blah blah on his knees *SKIP30* hole *skip30* suck *skip30* tongue *skip30* end of chapter. Audio porn at best.
So overall - Decent story that is worth listening to if you skip the sex scenes.
Performance - good, Greg Boudreaux really helped keep me in the series. *I don't know how he read the porn scenes without dying*
Story - decent characters, decent world, action and world will hold you even if the sex makes you close the bedroom door and turn up the stereo to avoid it.

The world sees me as boring, dependable David. And I like it that way. I know things and I'm organized. Plus, I've seen firsthand the harm a chaotic life can inflict, and I'd rather have my lists and be called dull. Which is what makes it all the more disconcerting when a sexy elf declares his adoration and begins to "woo" me. What am I supposed to do?

Best of the series by far
Revisado: 02-13-22
Book 4 is by far the best of the series. Too many moments to laugh at, a level of "awww" that isn't too mushy, some action, some "action", and an ending that brings up emotions from the entire series. Performance is great as Joel ALWAYS does. I need more like this!

Great book/series - don't like voice actor change
Revisado: 06-25-20
A great wrap up to the amazing 7 book series. No loose ends left, even down to the last few bits. Excellent work by the author. A must for any fan of the fiction.
Voice actor, again, didn't like Flitton. He continued to pronounce stuff strangely and having 5 books in with the original, I didn't like this voice version. Again - to all voice actors - if you are coming in part way through the series, at least listen to one of the books before yours.
Either way, a definite listen.

Great story - please go back to the other narrator
Revisado: 05-12-20
Over all the story is on par with the previous books - kudos to the author.
However - I didn't like this narrator. His lack of good accents/voicing and his pronunciation of certain key things really took the level down a ways. I'd recommend that the narrator listen to at least parts of the previous story if they are going to take over part way through a series.
For example, the club name - one of the KEY FACTORS considering its the Vampires CLUB - the narrator didn't pronounce it correctly or even close to what the previous narrator did. Diavol - like DYE - a - Vol, he wasn't even close.
Also example, his narrative voice was often the same for Lizzy, Gaia, and too close to Lucas at times to easily differentiate.
Bring back Ethan Holtan..

Historia
Shane West was used to being the only wolf shifter at the Stockton Police Department. His enhanced senses helped him do his job efficiently, and he prided himself on keeping control of his animal instincts. Gay from the first day he'd shifted, he also expected to live his long life alone, and provided it meant that he didn't have to come into contact with any of his ex-pack, he told himself he was happy. And he was. Until Dimitri Polst was assigned as his new partner.

good story, not so good narrator
Revisado: 06-24-19
Overall good story, though the narrators pronounciation of some things is super distracting. Been always as bean, a as a strong a regardless. it makes sentences not flow as well and in some cases is enough to pull you out of the story.

Historia
At the age of 20, I never thought I'd have to make the choice between true love or my soul. Then again, I never thought I'd be faced with any of the terrible, wonderful, impossible things that exist in Lyle Carraway's world. The vampire is a weakness I never even knew I had, and when he whispers promises of immortality and sensual luxury, it's more temptation than I can handle. Good Catholic boys from small towns aren't supposed to make deals with the devil, but I never counted on him being this hard to resist. Or being the key to the family I've always wanted.

Not bad, but too much religion
Revisado: 06-19-19
Typical vampire mpreg, but the religious overtones started to get distracting from the story. narrator also read with a slightly nerdy overtone which made the romance feel a bit fake. 3/5
