Meh
Revisado: 11-03-22
A bit disappointed. the sarcastic humor was a bit overboard and exaggerated by the narrator. The storyline was never fully developed and left a lot of questions.
Elvis and Pike are 2 of my favorite characters. Barely got to see Pike and Cole was vacillating between making sparky comments and trying to be serious.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 11-13-20
Why did Connelly feel it necessary to inflict gratuitous political swipes? Everybody is sick of politics. We read and listen to books to get away from all the swill.
You lost a fan Michael Connelly. I’ll never buy another one of your books.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Disappointed. Not the Greg Iles I am used to.
Revisado: 03-18-19
Preachy. Gratuitous swipes at Trump that add nothing to the story. Plot jumps all over the place - flashbacks that interrupted the flow. Lots of psychobabble, and an ending that defies credulity. Also, unable to access the chapters when clicking on the chapter feature.

Historia
At home, Richard Kuklinski was a dedicated suburban family man; on the street, he was the Iceman, a professional hit man and lethal scam artist, a man so heartless he kept one of his victims frozen for over two years to disguise the time of death. His personal body count was over 100, but the police couldn’t touch him. Then undercover agent Dominick Polifrone posed as a mobster and began a deadly game of cat and mouse. The Iceman chronicles Kuklinski’s grisly career and exposes his murderous double life.

Fantastic narrator. Best out there for interpreting different characters. Great New Jersey accents. Will be looking for other books he's narrated.

What did you love best about Failure to Appear?
I would have thought by now Gene Eugene would have found a cure for his stomach problems. Listening to him trying to cover the burps and stomach rumbling gets a bit annoying. He still rattles papers and mispronounces words. Oh well. He is the voice of JP Beaumont.

Historia
As a police launch speeds across Miami's Biscayne Bay - with officer Nestor Camacho on board - Tom Wolfe is off and running. Here is a big, panoramic story of the new America, as told by our master chronicler of the way we live now. Based on the same sort of detailed, on-scene, high-energy reporting that powered Tom Wolfe's previous best-selling novels, Back to Blood is another brilliant, spot-on, scrupulous, and often hilarious reckoning with our times.
