Historia
As the COVID-19 pandemic revealed, we have become not just a hyper-partisan society but also a deeply cynical one, distrustful of traditional sources of knowledge and wisdom. Skepticism about vaccines led to the needless deaths of at least 230,000 Americans. “Do your own research” is now a rallying cry in many online rabbit holes. Yet experts can make mistakes, and institutions can lose their moral compass. So how can we navigate through all this? In The Road to Wisdom, Francis Collins reminds us of the four core sources of judgement and clear thinking: truth, science, faith, and trust.

Historia
There is no question that the United States faces dangerous threats from without; the greatest peril to the country, however, comes from within. In The Bill of Obligations, bestselling author Richard Haass argues that, to solve our climate of division and safeguard our democracy, the very idea of citizenship must be revised and expanded. The Bill of Rights is at the center of our Constitution, yet the most intractable conflicts often emerge from cases that, as former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer pointed out, “are not about right versus wrong. They are about right versus right.”

Historia
In the first half of life, we are naturally preoccupied with establishing ourselves; climbing, achieving, and performing. But as we grow older and encounter challenges and mistakes, we need to see ourselves in a different and more life-giving way. This message of falling down - that is in fact moving upward - is the most resisted and counterintuitive of messages in the world's religions. Falling Upward offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how those who have fallen down are the only ones who understand "up".

Disillusioned with the American Christianity? Read this!!
Revisado: 11-05-22
Thank you Richard for opening my mind and heart. This is what my broken heart has been looking for. Fundamentalism and American Christianity with a splash of prosperity gospel has left me in agony. This has opened my mind and heart to the truth. This book is a must read for Christians who are disappointed and disillusioned with the American Church and in search of truth.

Historia
Even people who are not professing Christians think they are familiar with the story of the Nativity. Every Christmas, displays of Jesus resting in a manger populate lawns and churchyards, and songs about shepherds and angels fill the air. Yet despite the abundance of these Christian references in popular culture, how many of us have examined the hard edges of this biblical story? Timothy Keller takes listeners on an illuminating journey into the surprising background of the Nativity.

Like a healing balm on the suffering spirit
Revisado: 11-26-18
Next to C.S. Lewis' The Problem of Pain, Randy Alcorn's book, If God Is Good Faith in the Midst of Suffering and Evil offers healing support to those who are in the midst of crisis and suffering. It is great for those who are in the midst of it and those who will be in the midst of it because we know that Jesus said "In this world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". Difficult times are certain, as the sparks fly upward, but knowing that God does work all things together for our good and His glory is a comforting truth to hold onto in dark times. I have listened to this book and will continue to listen to it over and over again. It's a great companion to bible reading and devotions. I would encourage anyone who is going through a difficult time to listen and hold on to these truths and the passages that Randy breaks down for us. Thank you Randy Alcorn for this blessing. Keep on writing Randy Alcorn!!!

Historia
In the form of warm, relaxed letters to a close friend, C. S. Lewis meditates on many puzzling questions concerning the intimate dialogue between man and God. He considers practical and metaphysical aspects of prayer, such as when we pray and where. He questions why we seek to inform God in our prayers if he is omniscient, whether there is an ideal form of prayer, and which of our many selves we show to God while praying.
