Historia
Atlantis: The Antediluvian World is a pseudo-archaeological work published in 1882 by the Minnesotan author Ignatius L. Donnelly. He argues that all known ancient civilizations were descended from this lost land which once existed in the Atlantic Ocean, opposite the Mediterranean Sea. The author claims that the description of this island given by Plato is not fable, but veritable history. Many of its theories are the source of contemporary concepts about Atlantis, including that the civilization and technology were beyond its time.

I listened twice. The first time not all the way through. The second time I listened with much more focus and concentration — there is a tremendous amount to absorb. I’ve been researching Atlantis for many years, and here Ignatius Donnelly connects the dots. I simply did not want it to end. I loved it.

Sharon Stone; you have lost none of your ‘luminous’ quality — as you mentioned someone had suggested to you. Luminance is a rare blessing that will stay with you lifelong, as part of your life force and tremendous resilience. Luminosity resonates throughout your being, and in your work, writing and physical presence — nothing and no one can ever diminish it or take it away. You are an inspiration.

Historia
The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience.

A Clear and Present Danger
Revisado: 02-15-19
The author espouses what I’ve been trying to communicate to friends and acquaintances for several years now, while I have personally long been adhering to the discipline of the 20 lessons outlined. This book is confirmation I've been on the right path. On Tyranny is very well done and just the right length for even the shortest attention span.
Virtually nothing could be more important than the lessons and principles, historical references and current examples sighted…as the author identifies the symptoms and tactics signaling encroaching fascism, culminating in demanding the handing over of our sovereignty to authoritarian rule. Achieving this goal is made easier by the numbing indifference and dissipating distractions indulged in by the upper end of the economic spectrum, countered by the magical thinking of a growing populace of followers from the shrinking middle and expanding lower end, who illogically imagine one day becoming like their oligarchical idols. This segment of the population seems so willing to embrace any means to help accomplish the deceitfully promised, imaginary ends. I will never understand the appeal – especially for an American.
The tyranny of fascism preys upon man's basic fears, anger, prejudices and the stresses of class along with the imbalance of increasing inequality. This inequality and everything that separates us helps stimulate anxiety and irrationality, which ironically and inevitably, helps bring about all that is feared. The ultimate terror and its inhumanity, more horrifying than can genuinely be imagined by those now so inthrall and willingly offering mindless obeisance to leaders whose conscious intent is so openly the calculated and callous manipulation of the habits and opinions of the masses in accomplishing their ends.

The Pyramids and the Pentagon is a detailed study of how and why government agencies have, for decades, taken a clandestine and profound interest in numerous archeological, historical, and religious puzzles. Focusing primarily upon the classified work of the U.S. Government, The Pyramids and the Pentagon invites you to take a wild ride into the fog-shrouded past.

Unlistenable
Revisado: 12-13-18
This narrator spoke so fast, with a forcefully harsh and sarcastic tone, barely taking a breath as he spoke, it just made listening impossible. What was his hurry – other than to add to the breathless theatrical yellow journalism style of his narration, which made the point of the book seem to be only one of "debunking." If so, why bother to write it, and more to the point, read it…and indeed – I didn’t. After listening to a few auditorily grating chapters – I'm done. Nick Redfern's books are uneven, but this one disappoints in a big way.

Historia
First published in 1979, The White Album records indelibly the upheavals and aftermaths of the 1960s. Examining key events, figures, and trends of the era - including Charles Manson, the Black Panthers, and the shopping mall - through the lens of her own spiritual confusion, Joan Didion helped to define mass culture as we now understand it. Written with a commanding sureness of tone and linguistic precision, The White Album is a central example of American reportage and a classic of American autobiography.

Revisado: 07-21-16
I'm a long time fan of Joan Didion and a re-listening of The White Album (so many times and no doubt many more) never disappoints. This audiobook is also distinguished by an impeccable narration — spot on, note perfect in capturing Didion's written voice. Highly recommended.

Historia
Just what is it that they don't want you to know about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Area 51, and the mysterious “face” on Mars? In UFOs, JFK, and Elvis, Richard Belzer delivers a witty rant on some of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups this side of Roswell. With a deft and entertaining combination of satire and in-your-face facts, Belzer challenges his audience to accept the extent of alleged government cover-ups. Finally, one lone “nut” exposes the conspiracy to keep conspiracies a dirty little secret, standing up to the shadowy forces.

Horrible!
Revisado: 02-02-14
Any additional comments?
Sounds as if the author was reading a collection of superficial and dated articles from newspapers, tabloids and periodicals - and read so perfunctorily! I could not listen to this book as recorded but rather skipped ahead from chapter to chapter hoping the content would improve – it did not. This recording seems like a naked grab at trading on this actor's then fame, to establish himself as an author (fail)… perhaps it worked for some but not for me. What a total waste of time and an Audible credit.

Conspiracy buff or not, who can resist a book that blows the lid off some of our time's most controversial issues? For example, if astronauts, pilots, and nearly every culture since time immemorial believe UFOs exists, why does the U.S. government deny it? And just how could the President of the United States die of a frontal would inflicted by a sniper shooting from behind?

Filled with unforgettable stories of emperors, generals, and religious patriarchs, as well as fascinating glimpses into the life of the ordinary citizen, Lost to the West reveals how much we owe to the Byzantine Empire that was the equal of any in its achievements, appetites, and enduring legacy. For more than a millennium, Byzantium reigned as the glittering seat of Christian civilization.

Has A Certain Charm
Revisado: 12-29-10
The narrative presentation is more like listening to a man reading a fairytale to a child — actually very superficial in reading style and content but I guess a decent overview. I was disappointed that it was really no more than a recounting of a succession of wars with little detail about the civilization of the Byzantium Empire. Also the author is the narrator and his sing-song reading style became very grating - I could only listen for short periods at a time — really; next time pay a professional.

The New World Order. Hitler referred to it in his diaries. President George H. W. Bush foretold of it in his speeches. Formed by a secretive global elite, the group seeking this new order has taken hold of the nation and perhaps the world. Its influence pervades every reach of American society, from the products we buy at the grocery store to the topics of evening news programs.

Falls Short
Revisado: 08-30-10
I like Jim Marrs and up until now most of his books. He is also a very good speaker and a thorough investigator however this book falls very short of his usual standards and was a very big disappointment.
Firstly, there was not much new information here that Marrs has not already covered in his other books and secondly he really takes a right-wing libertarian turn that is quite off-putting. His complete loss of journalistic objectivity and preachy agenda promulgated throughout — just made it impossible to listen all the way through. I was looking forward to this book but now I wish I had not purchased it.

Ah... how satisfying, a wonderful thriller, thoroughly engaging, well written and the first-rate audio production brings it all to life - Roger Rees is just terrific. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Now what new book can I read that will match this quality... I've been totally spoiled.
