Looking for the plot in this NOT LIKE OTHER Girls
Revisado: 06-18-24
While the first book was ok but cringy, this one fell flat.
I am about 3/4s of the way through the book and I am not sure if I can finish it.
The plot is 90% 6ways...and that is not an exaggeration. I love a spicey book but I still need PLOT and when the spicey scenes are constant, they become boring. I started just rolling my eyes and skipping them half way through this book. Sadly this book has zero humor and minimal against. It just isn't interesting.
And the dialogue keeps repeating. "He is so beautiful" "My 5 guys because they are mine." "Harper blah blah" etc. and I won't even repeat the constant same exact sex talk. Plus, each of the guys basically say Lilith is not like other girls (so over that).

When Elijah Ri arrives in New York City for an internship at his father’s massive tech company, Haneul Corporation, he expects the royal treatment that comes with being the future CEO—even if that’s the last thing he wants. But instead, he finds himself shuffled into a group of overworked, unpaid interns, all sharing a shoebox apartment for the summer.

Cute story, needs a better...
Revisado: 05-21-24
I really enjoyed this sweet, not spicy romance.
Jessica is a West Coast strong independent young woman who comes from a hard working middle class family. She gets her dream internship working for a misogynistic Korean company in New York. On the way there, her identity gets mixed up with Elijah, naive son of the CEO. Soon sparks start to fly.
I really love Jessica's internal dialogue, especially when confronting a problem or obstacles. She is a character with a lot of depth. She is also not perfect and has some character flaws, which I really like. Makes her relatable.
It was very interesting to read about the misogynistic attitudes even towards high ranking women in the company. That is not often addressed but is the reality of so many.
Oh Elijah, that character was boring. He had no real personality and other than whiny or being absolutely amazed by everything, didn't really bring much to the story. Oh and he is HOT HOT. Jessica definitely deserved better.
Most of the other character are one dimensional and just there for plot. Even major secondary characters like best friends.
The male narrators was very good but the female....jeesh. Except for Jessica all the other voices were horrible. All the men sounded about the same. The best friend sounded absolutely terrible and hated every scene because the voice was so bad.
The romance was sweet but needed more building and more passion. It felt more like friends hanging out most of the time. All of a sudden, minor flirting turned into head over heels in love in the blink of an eye. I see the foundation of a relationship but no head over heels in love.
***Minor Plot Spoilers *****
My biggest disappointment in the story was the resolution. What is going on with Elijah's dad? How was Elijah able to break away so quickly? So, so many more questions.

Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Sweet Love Story
Revisado: 05-18-24
This is my 2nd read by Lily Chu. As with her other book, I love the characters and character development. No one is perfect or "not like other girls". I love the relationships, especially between the female characters. So supportive.
While I have loved both books, I do hope the author moves past a few repetitive themes. For instance, the misunderstandings due to poor communication. The female leads having no self confidence. AND Please MORE SPICE!!! These are sweet stories with barely any kissing so completely forget about any other spice. I mean seriously, two or three kisses is not enough. I am not saying they need to be super steamy and super detailed but lets have a little bit more making out at least....Right now they feel like middle school relationships. I don't feel passion at all in either books. It feels more like crushes and first dates, not Love.

I loved this story
Revisado: 05-11-24
The characters were so interesting and like real people. No one was perfect all the time, everyone made mistakes, the romance was believable, and the narrators did and decent job (except for male voice...they all sounded the same to me).
My only complaint is that it definitely did need a little more steamy scenes.
Will definitely read more from this author.

Historia
It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. I put my days as a hunter behind me, unable to cope with the death and pain anymore, to become an upstanding citizen and for what? To assist Lake, a man who claims he’s not a monster but keeps talking about me like I’m edible and–even worse–wants to woo me?

I devoured this book so fast.
Revisado: 04-27-24
It has been a while since I have actually LOVED a story. Recently, all the romances I have read the couple is way too toxic to be enjoyable, not like other girls too perfect and everyone tells her on the regular how perfect she is, or just boring with no spice. However, this story had just the right mix.
This is sort of a enemies to lovers, but honestly, they never felt like enemies. Declan and Lake are not perfect, but they are so freaking loveable. Their interactions had me laughing out loud. They are also not toxic but they don't give in to each other easily either. Their choices aren't always right but you can understand their logic. You get to watch their love grow and it make sense.
Lake one of my new favorite characters. He is so funny and just does not give a .....
The Performance wasn't my favorite. Sometimes Declan sounded like Lake and Lake sounded like Declan. This caused me to get confused a few times and repeat certain parts.

Revenge is wicked - but I’m worse. As a kid, Margo crushed our dreams to dust. We were best friends until she tore our families apart with one confession. Now that she’s back as the new girl in school, she doesn’t seem to suspect the war that’s coming - or the anger I’ve been harboring. She’s the prey, and I’m her perfect predator. But suddenly there’s a new game to play, and the stakes are even higher. Betrayal. Lies. A devastating cover up. The secrets locked in Margo’s head are enough to destroy us.

Lots of Unnecessary, Redundant Conflict
Revisado: 04-27-24
I love a good bully romance. This one was just disturbing,
There was so much unnecessary drama. Some of what Caleb does just does not make ANY sense. As another review mentions, he becomes a "full-fledged psycho with no redeeming qualities" and how Margo or her foster parents could even forgive him, is beyond my understanding. But Margo....she makes me want to bang my head against a wall. She is just flat out....not intelligent. She wants to know something and multiple, MULTIPLE, people offer to tell her but she doesn't take them up on the offer nut whines about how she doesn't know and wants to know. Eventually, at almost the end of the trilogy she goes to the person that is the most difficult to get to,,,,,make it make sense. Her response to Caleb....girl needs therapy desperately. She literally gravitates towards males that have physically harmed her putting herself dangerous situations.
And again, I love a good spicy romance but this was over the top. There are so many, many, many needlessly detailed sex scenes at incredibly inappropriate times. Often nonconsensual. There were so many, it became boring and I would just skip them.
I actually finished the series because book 2 and 3 are marginally better but once I was done I wished I would have returned.

Unnecessary Over Sharing/Explaining
Revisado: 10-03-23
The conversations are just unrealistic. Over explaining feelings is just not realistic especially with bikers. "I love you and you mean the world to me" and I understand that you did what you did because you love but blah, blah blah made me angry. I understand blah blah blah but you shouldn't blah blah. That is literally every conversation. It makes the conversation not flow. It is just flat. So flat.

Painful
Revisado: 06-19-23
Where to begin... If you like the Sons of Anarchy type of MC, this is not it. The way this MC talks/acts is so unrealistic. Not a single curse word, crazy parties (really crazy), hang-arounds, etc. Speaking of unrealistic, the love story in this book is insta-love. Like I am so in love with you can't live without you insta-love. The L-word was thrown around within weeks of meeting. Also, all the old ladies start telling the main couple they will get married before they are even really dating. And the steamy scenes are just lackluster because there just isn't any chemistry between the two.
Listening to the internal dialog was painful but so were the conversations. The main character constantly blaming herself for EVERYTHING bad that happens and having to listen to her internal "poor me" dialogue was hard to get through. Then there was the unneeded explanation of random things. Like at point one character gets another character a puppy as a gift. Immediately upon giving the gift, the giver goes into an unnecessary explanation of the dogs lineage. Like...why? It just didn't flow proper. So many conversations just don't flow.
The story also just doesn't flow. As another reviewer stated, the book just keeps "jumping from one thing to another."
And the last chapter had me rolling my eyes. That ending conflict was so unnecessary.
This was just so painful to get through. It was boring. BORING. And annoying.

Not even the gods can save us. Two of my men have been captured. The rest of us are barely holding on. We’re wanted, and our army stands no chance against the swarm of mind-controlled pawns. Failure is not an option. Abandoning my husbands is not an option. But the longer we take to plan, the closer we get to losing them. Even worse, our companion gods are no help. Horus can’t see them. Freyja can’t heal them. And Hades can only tell me they’re not dead yet. We have everything to lose, and no options left. Jandro, Gunner, and I must do this ourselves.

I don't like Mari
Revisado: 06-12-23
At the beginning of the series, I was so excited. A book about a reverse harem, bikers, mythology, and a strong female lead? Heck yeah sign me up. Unfortunately, as the series progressed many conversations were on repeat, practically copy paste. The sex scenes too became way to predictable with the same internal dialogue over and over again. Honestly, I started skipping the sex scenes altogether because they added nothing to the story.
Once important characters just disappeared or only may rare appearances. What happened to T-Bones bird?? Isn't he a god too??
Then, I started to really dislike Mari. She is very self-centered with a major hero complex. For some reason, she thinks she is always knows best. This is not helped by the fact everyone (her guys, father-in-law and the gods/goddess) all treat her likes she is. She isn't. She acts like she is the only one who truly cares. She isn't. I could go on and on but I will stop here.
In this book, it is just more of the same. Mari's Not Like Other Girls story line continues. The end battle is WEAK. I can't write more without including spoilers. I am not mad at the ending, just disappointed in the lazy writing.
