Thank the universe it’s short.
Revisado: 01-14-25
This was my first Lucinda Berry book.. I didn’t like it. I found myself really frustrated with the MC most of the time, and frustrated at the other characters the rest of the time. The ending was frustrating, but, it’s a twist I guess.

It kept me interested, and while I was not awed, I was entertained. The performance was really good. The narrator did a great job. I wasn’t disappointed with my purchase.

Historia
Jennifer Thorne skewers all-too-familiar family dynamics in this sly, wickedly funny vacation-Gothic. Beautifully unhinged and deeply satisfying, Diavola is a sharp twist on the classic haunted house story, exploring loneliness, belonging, and the seemingly inescapable bonds of family mythology.

“Anna didn’t want to know” I WANTED TO KNOW, ANNA!! With that being said, I expected one thing, got another, but wasn’t disappointed. The narrator did well, the story was good, it kept my interest all the way through, and I didn’t mind the length.

Historia
Arriving in L.A. to visit the set of a new streaming horror series, journalist Laura Warren witnesses a man jumping from a bridge, landing right behind her car. Here we go, she thinks. It’s started. Because the series she’s reporting on is a remake of a ’90s horror flick. A cursed ’90s horror flick, which she starred in as a child—and has been running from her whole life.

Revisado: 11-19-24
There are elements that are good-ish. The concept was interesting and it will have you guessing at who’s doing what or what’s happening, but I also think that in doing so, it left loose ends. The narrator was tolerable but not great. It’s interesting enough to not DNF, but I probably won’t read it again, which sucks because I used a credit on it.. maybe wait until it’s free.

Well, you might guess and be right here and there, but don’t get too comfortable with your assumptions. I didn’t even know who the main character was until the end.. maybe… I’m still not sure.

Revisado: 07-24-24
It was twisty and somewhat unpredictable in places. Definitely wouldn’t have seen the ending coming and I really wanted to know where it was going to go, It’s pretty short so even though it’s a little janky, it was still pretty alright

It was good
Revisado: 06-05-24
The performance was really is fantastic. Ya know how sometimes when there’s more than one narrator, sometimes they just don’t mesh well? The different POVs are seamless with these narrators. Really great listen. The story was good too. It twisted and turned but in some areas it was a bit predictable, in others, not so much. Overall good listen. Very entertaining.

The narration… Jebus
Revisado: 05-22-24
The narration is maddening!! I don’t know who made the call on the internal monologue of every character being English when they’re supposed to be American, but it was terrible call. It makes no sense and I hate it. If you’re not paying close attention to when the POV changes, it’s confusing. I genuinely can’t tell if the story is any good because of how distracting it is.
