This book fills out the character of DI Heather Filson, whom we met previously in a couple of the Jack Logan books. She’s definitely a badass, but also likable. A suspenseful, smart story. Cathleen McCarron’s narration is terrific.

The story is a cracking good one, of course. Just as entertaining as when I first listened to it when it first came out. To me, Jim Dale’s narration is superb. What a gift he has for voices, accents, and emoting. None better!

Peter Grainger’s books about DC Smith and the Kings Lake police are the best of their kind, in my opinion, and I’ve been reading this kind of thing for 50+ years. Intelligent and challenging as well as entertaining, they make me laugh out loud and tear up occasionally. This one is no exception. Gildart Jackson’s narration is masterful. Thank you both and more, please!
