But years later, they unexpectedly reconnect in London, where they are interviewing for similar jobs. The spark they feel when they meet again is palpable—the attraction comes back like muscle memory, reminding them of what they had lost. When Ward and Camille discover they both got the job working opposing shifts, they vow to give their relationship another try.

Well gosh that was delightful!
Revisado: 03-19-25
I was pulled in with the fantasy/science fiction ideas I read in the book summary. It became so much more! Definitely a puzzle to figure out. There was love and romance, along with romantic sex. I absolutely loved seeing how the author described how the gods acted and what motivated them in their (eternal) lives.
My favorite thing is that the story had such a lovely dénouement. It seems like books lately just don’t have that anymore. They leave you hanging and make you figure out for yourself how things go on for the protagonists after the climax of the book has been reached. The ending of this book was very satisfying. We got to see what happens to their lives after they get out of their predicament.
Sometimes you just want a nice book of fiction. Life is hard and there’s just too much crazy going on right now in the world. This book is like silk sheets for your brain. Smooth, cool, and easy to get into.

A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab, and soon, you'll be matched with your perfect partner - the one you're genetically made for. That's the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: Test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance, and love.

You think at first that you know what is going to happen, then the story goes sideways (in an interesting way).

Well that was fun! And thought provoking. This was one of those stories that you can’t assume where the story is headed. As soon as you feel like you know what is going to happen, something crazy happens.

If you love all this shows on TV in the 90s, you will really enjoy this book
Revisado: 01-22-25
I like getting a “backstage” tour through everything that went on during this time in network television. It is also interesting to see how it just didn’t happen right away. There were a lot of failures at the beginning that taught lessons on how to make the next show better. As much as I enjoyed the insider’s view of all the BS and tough times, I also appreciated the examples of good leadership and good teamwork. This book explorers these topics by discussing the history of good and bad decisions, and how the leaders reacted to each. In a nutshell, hire talented people, remove obstacles for them, and then get out of their way.

Historia
Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank’s remarkable diary has since become a world classic - a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the “Secret Annex” of an old office building.

You need to know her story
Revisado: 10-13-24
The most devastating part of the book is knowing the outcome that Anne never does. Her life, so full of promise, is tragically cut short, and the diary stands as a reminder of all the potential that was stolen during the Holocaust. It’s not just a historical document; it’s a voice that refuses to be silenced.

Historia
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom. As internal political strife and a clash of cultures lead to seemingly inevitable conflict, Blackthorne’s loyalty and strength of character are tested by both passion and loss.

Clear view of symptoms and solutions to them
Revisado: 03-27-24
This was a pretty short book, but it got right to the point. It first reviewed all kinds of situations that can happen during childhood that helps you decide whether you are the victim of a narcissistic mother or anyone for that matter. Next it discusses some of the feelings and symptoms that you might be carrying around due to this. She discusses how you have these feelings and anxieties in adult life, but have no idea why you are having them and she explains exactly what the cause is. Lastly, she goes in-depth into solutions. I appreciated that she spent a great deal of time addressing the needs of kids who are still at home and who are not out on their own yet. She also goes in depth into adults of any age and how these anxieties and issues can affect you even when you're 50, 60, or 70 years old. There are lot of pointers on how to deal with narcissistic parents that are very old and need caregiving and how you can address this and still be able to care for them. The biggest points she made is that 1) there is no changing the narcissistic person. They will never be the kind of person that you'd like them to be and there's nothing you can do about it 2) until you bring these wounds to the light of day and confront them, you cannot live a life that is free of the constant anxiety and pain that children of narcissists deal with.

It is delightful!
Revisado: 02-28-24
I loved how they broke the 4th wall at times during the story. The players were also amazing. It probably helps to know the history of all these people and what happened in real life before reading this. It makes the story MUCH funnier to see how the author places these well known Watergate individuals in locations and situations that are hilarious compared to their real life personas. Nixon's character was the best. Based on the Watergate tapes, it is not implausible to think that Nixon would have spoken and acted as he did to the funny situations in the book. Just hilarious.
Lastly, it is fast based and funny! You will enjoy every bit.

If you like stories about what the future destruction of the earth and what earth people like us will do- you will like it. Ultra conservatives may dislike the parts about global warming, war, and government. But middle conservatives will be fine with it, as they know this is a book, and it is fiction, and just a projection of what someone somewhere thinks. Not a pronouncement of what things should and must be. As a sci-fi fan, it was really what I wanted, and it has an ending, and doesn’t leave you hanging.

A heads up: This is more of a radio play than an audiobook
Revisado: 07-30-23
If you are looking for a proper audiobook, then this won’t work for you. It also won’t work for you if you are uncomfortable with LGBT topics. But if you want to try something a little new and shake up your audiobook reading, this is a good choice. It is a historical fiction “radio play” set in the 1970s. Workers at the nuclear power plants are dying from a rare form of cancer which is caused by the lack of radiation protection for the workers. The Atomic Energy Commission knows this and are trying to cover it up.
And oh yes it is also about a blind teenage girl who learns how to hack into the phone system.
It is fun! Try it.
