A different Morse

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-16-10

I had previously met Inspector Morse only on the BBC TV adaptations of Colin Dexter's books. The full book reveals a much more complex character. Don't be put off by the voice of the reader: you will soon acclimate to him, and then realize that he is, in fact, just the right reader for these books.

Just make sure that you have a l-o-n-g car journey ahead of you, because you won't want to stop until the book is over.

The best so far!

Revisado: 01-29-04

I've been picking titles from the Aubrey/Machurin series more or less at random from what's available at my local public library and on Audible.com. (Beware --- many of the O'Brian titles on Audible are abridged! What butchery!). This is the best yet.

The story is varied, with much more charcter development that the previous books that I have read in this series, but no less a supply of nautical detail and seafaring suspense. And there are several suprising turns in the plot. I highly recommend this book, whether or not you have read others in the series.
