Historia
Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first. Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal.

Not a huge fan

The reading was good, just not the wow I was expecting. I had to listen to the last three chapters twice to see where the story was headed.

Historia
The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships. We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us. But that was before her. Before we became known as the Hixton Five and our lives become defined by one night. It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away. But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen. When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real. Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Historia
Alex, a single mother-of-two, is determined to make a fresh start for her and her children. In an effort to escape her troubled past, she seeks refuge in a rural community. Pine Ridge is idyllic; the surrounding forests are beautiful and the locals welcoming. Mostly. But Alex finds that she may have disturbed barely hidden secrets in her new home. As a chain of bizarre events is set off, events eerily familiar to those who have lived there for years, Alex realizes that she and her family might be in greater danger than ever before.

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

As if we are living the same life
Revisado: 04-19-22
It has been a rough road for all of us. As a mother of a gender neutral child with OCD, Bi Polar, ADHD & Autism as well as an addict…anything and everything. I have been the enabler. I don’t want to be, but I love my child. My child didn’t grow under my heart, but I’m my heart.
This book has changed so many things in my life. Especially knowing that I’m not alone. That we can’t fix it. They have to fix it. It’s hard, but I will continue to try, to heal & support my child. It’s all I can do.

Historia
Jeremy Ivester is a transgender man. Thirty years ago, his parents welcomed him into the world as what they thought was their daughter. As a child, he preferred the toys and games our society views as masculine. He kept his hair short and wore boys’ clothing. They called him a tomboy. That’s what he called himself. By high school, when he showed no interest in flirting, his parents thought he might be lesbian. At 20, he wondered if he was asexual. At 23, he surgically removed his breasts.

Nina to Greyson
Revisado: 03-25-21
This book was just what I needed.
I’ve felt very alone in my sons journey. He grew up a girly girl so the fact that he called me in the middle of the night to tell me he was a boy just about killed me. I cried for days. I had no one but my husband. We always thought our child was gay, not a boy. Since his transition he has fought many demons due to mental health issues. He still fights today. I still cry at the loss of my daughter. However we love our son no matter what. He is out child.
This book has brought so much comfort to me in ways only a mother of a transgender child could know. I will treasure this and I will share this book with family and friends.
Thank you all for sharing your story.

This book touched the deepest parts of my heart and soul. It gave me hope.
As a mother of Nina Marie, now Greyson Lu, you made me laugh, cry and feel all the things I have held inside for so long. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone in this. That I’m not a bad mother for grieving the loss of my daughter...my girly girl. It has been a very hard 2 plus years. I hope there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Jenny Mollen is an actress and writer living in Los Angeles. She is also a wife, married to a famous guy (which is annoying only because he gets free shit and she doesn't). She doesn't want much from life. Just to be loved - by everybody: her parents, her dogs, her ex-boyfriends, her ex-boyfriends' dogs, her husband, her husband's ex-girlfriends, her husband's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriends, etc.

I loved everything about the book except the bit about Jen & Amanda possibly being molested by a family member. That was a little uncomfortable.
Overall a laugh out loud story. My coworkers thought I was crazy with all my giggles.
