Heartbreaking story
Revisado: 08-31-24
I had this as an audio book and stopped at about chapter 9. Although I was interested in the story I could not listen any longer. Being read by a woman with a solid American accent took away from the story.
I think I heard “my husband” 500 times!!
Give the husband a name. It was annoying.

Historia
Slomo Venezia was born into a poor Jewish-Italian community living in Thessaloniki, Greece. At first, the occupying Italians protected his family; but when the Germans invaded, the Venezias were deported to Auschwitz. His mother and sisters disappeared on arrival, and he learned, at first with disbelief, that they had almost certainly been gassed. Given the chance to earn a little extra bread, he agreed to become a 'Sonderkommando', without realizing what this entailed.

Grim details of the horrific life in the camps
Revisado: 08-23-24
The storyline and narration was very engaging but many times during the story the narrator stopped and said “note then further explained something”. That was quite annoying. Should have just incorporated the details in the story

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Good storyline
Revisado: 08-21-24
I am enjoying the story line but don’t know if I’ll be able to get thru the entirety of the book. The narration of this book is quite off putting. I don’t know if she just has a soft voice of if she is using a “loud whisper” but is it annoying. SO ANNOYING!

Jimmy was a wealthy racehorse owner, known far and wide as The Dancing Man. In a town like Dingle, everyone knows a little something about everyone else. But dig a bit deeper, and there’s always much more to find.

Good story. Easy to keep up with
Revisado: 08-12-24
Narration was abysmal. Boring, monotone. Almost gave up on listening but such a good storyline had to find out the ending

What starts small but significant soon propels her into a frontline role—dangerous enough to cost her her life if caught.
