Historia
On February 17, 2022, Brittney Griner arrived in Moscow ready to spend the WNBA offseason playing for the Russian women’s basketball team where she had been the centerpiece of previous championship seasons. Instead, a security checkpoint became her gateway to hell when she was arrested for mistakenly carrying under one gram of medically prescribed hash oil. Brittney’s world was violently upended in a crisis she has never spoken in detail about publicly—until now.

Historia
Barbara Butcher was early in her recovery from alcoholism when she found an unexpected lifeline: a job at the Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City. The second woman ever hired for the role of Death Investigator in Manhattan, she was the first to last more than three months. The work was gritty, demanding, morbid, and sometimes dangerous—and she loved it. In What the Dead Know, she writes with the kind of New York attitude and bravado you might expect from decades in the field, investigating more than 5,500 death scenes, 680 of which were homicides.

Fascinating, unique, and wonderful narration
Revisado: 04-12-25
This is a wonderful book. Not depressing as you might expect from a death investigator—her stories are simply amazing. The author is a very honest and open person who takes big risks emotionally by being so transparent. Highly recommend this.

What a gift amazing woman has given in the world by telling a story.
Revisado: 04-02-25
The narrator was amazing, which is extremely rare, but the author is truly heroic and her permission to help her herself and others heal from violence and sexual abuse, very emotional and upsetting, but she does survive cancer of a human being, so many lives was finally executed for what he has done. Also, these true crime stories results in the murderers somehow escaping the death penalty, which is extremely this is a for anybody interested in true crime and story about making good out of tragedy.

The most delightful dating story you’ll read
Revisado: 04-01-25
This author is just delightful! This is a wonderful and cheerful venture into the awful world of app dating. I wish I had found this when I was playing the dating game. The author is a talented and positive person who has amazing experiences because he is so open minded and good humored. The virtual voice is amazingly better than 90% of narrators for these books. A must read!

Historia
Sonora Carver (1904-2003) was a circus entertainer and one of the first female horse divers. In the arresting autobiography A Girl and Five Brave Horses, Sonora tells her life story. Her sensational act was mounting a running horse as it reached the top of a 40-foot or 60-foot tower and sailing down on its back as it plunged into an 11-foot pool of water below. In 1931, she was blinded due to hitting the water off balance with open eyes while diving her horse. After the accident, she continued to dive horses until 1942.

Compelling story; awful narration
Revisado: 03-01-25
If you get beyond the fact that horses hate water and jump off the pier solely bedside they have no other way down, it is a good book. One of the worst narrators ever( with a wicked harsh accent that is hard to understand.
