Historia
Whether pondering black holes or predicting discoveries at CERN, physicists believe the best theories are beautiful, natural, and elegant, and this standard separates popular theories from disposable ones. This is why, Sabine Hossenfelder argues, we have not seen a major breakthrough in the foundations of physics for more than four decades. The belief in beauty has become so dogmatic that it now conflicts with scientific objectivity: Observation has been unable to confirm mindboggling theories, like supersymmetry or grand unification, invented by physicists based on aesthetic criteria.

A very interesting insight into academic research at the highest levels.
Revisado: 12-28-23
I was very interested and captivated by the story into how academic research actually works.
The way the author had herself researched the topic by travelling and meeting the top scientists around the world and having candid talks with them, gave a very good insight into the goings on from various important people.
It has definitely opened my eyes to and area I didn't know worked the way it does. And she does bring up the issues and tries to come up with possible changes to improve it for the future.
A very good read/listen.

Historia
Artificial intelligence is smarter than humans. It can process information at lightning speed and remain focused on specific tasks without distraction. AI can see into the future, predicting outcomes and even use sensors to see around physical and virtual corners. So why does Intelligence frequently get it so wrong? The answer is us. Humans design the algorithms that define the way that AI works and the processed information reflects an imperfect world.

Should be required read by all of humanity in preparation for the future
Revisado: 12-01-23
A very interesting and somewhat scary outlook for humanity over the next few years and decades.
Mo’s unique and very good understanding of the topic just brings the message home that much closer to the heart. And it's not like we haven't been warned before either. But with our capitalistic way of life, it's easy to see why politicians, lawmakers, and influential business people just choose to not listen and pretened that it's all smooth sailing ahead.
I hope that we can make the world, with all humans and other sentient identities, a better and more caring civilisation moving forward. And maybe, just maybe, a huge shock might be what’s required for us all to start looking out for the person next to u and become less driven by greed and more by compassion. As a society. And see ourselves as all being connected to each other, and having an impact on not just the rest of the human population, but everything living on this little planet we call Earth.
Thank you sharing your insight to this topic, as well as Charing your own personal journey. This has added a sense of optimism to our unknown journey into the future.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Got a very thorough in site into Elon’s left and a good explanation to how he is wired and the reasons and events that has shaped/made this most extraordinary man.
Five stars from me.
