So I love the BBC adaptations of almost everything and the original Poirot books are obviously genius, amazing. However in this BBC adaptation Poirot has a posh British accent! I thought it was Hastings at first but no, it’s the loveable Hercule Poirot. I’m not picky. I would’ve taken a bad French accent, but I just can’t get past this.

Demi Moore’s voice is lovely to listen to and made the story so personal. I love that she shared all the parts of her life and was open honest and the story was very well crafted.

I like Amy Poehler and will continue to follow/watch her but I didn’t care for this book. This book had good chapters and good moments the parts about her divorce and children seemed sincere and real but overall I just didn’t get to know Amy Poehler at all. I didn’t understand who she was as a child, teenager, or young adult or who she is now. I think this is because there just weren’t any really vulnerable human moments in the book. Lots of funny stories and witty observations, lots of advice, (which seemed odd why so much advice?) Lots of success stories but nothing about real fears or lonely times. It just sort of jumped around from anecdote to anecdote.

First half of this audiobook so great, engaging, fun, interesting and honest. I liked her voice and delivery. Second half got really catty and sounded much less genuine. She bragged about the downfall of people she didn’t like. These stories were very one sided, compared to the first half of the book where she was very balanced and took the high road. It felt like 2 different people wrote the book. She described her life as so picture perfect at the end, no one’s life is like that. Almost couldn’t listen to last half-hour.

This is a very fun take on Roman historical fiction. I felt I learned quite a bit about daily life and some political events in Rome which is great and interesting, but mostly it was just fun and well acted. Great listen at night.

This BBC audio drama is wonderful. I found it to be a great listen before bed cheerful escapism with great performances. The humor and pacing reminds me a little of films like Bringing up Baby or His Girl Friday. I love the 2 female protagonists.
