this was a great story. it was interesting, captivating, and romantic in a pure way. I loved how realistic it was, despite being fiction. as a Christian I appreciate how Frank P. always weaves the spiritual through his stories. I can listen with my kids around, and I never feel like I wasted time listening or reading one of his books.

sweet little story, it's not a life changer, but very pleasant. the shell seekers was so epic, and touched all the nerves, and this doesn't compare, but still worth your time.

one of the best books ever

this book was so captivating on so many notes. I felt connected to the story on a personal level, even though in real life there's very little similarity. the language is delicious, and paints real scenes in the mind, you feel like your there. there are so many nuanced things to take away, and you feel inspired to be mindful about the kind of person you are in daily life.i cannot recommend this book enough, and the reader is perfect.

kind of a 1984 in a way

as per usual Koontz draws spiritual parallels to what's really happening in the world. this one was pretty blatant. it's one of the things I love about his books, and about Koontz as a person, that he sees a clear evils at work in the world, and he knows from whence they come...

Others said it's a twist on an old theme, which is true, but I thought it was a well done twist. The overall story was engaging all the way through. it wasn't scary, but it did have me invested in characters enough to be concerned for them, etc... and there was enough creepy for me. it's not a life changer, or one of those books you carry around in your head forever, but it was a fun listen.

One thing that was kind of irritating is how King threw in Donald Trump jabs. regardless of where a person stands politically, I feel like when things like that are thrown in, it pulls you out of the story. You become more aware of the author and his presence in the book. then the illusion that a real story is being told disappears. maybe that sounds silly to some, but we're living in a time where a political agenda is so blatantly being mixed in to everything. when I'm getting into a book or movie, I don't want politics invading, I've had enough of that.
