Recitation of Marian prayers/devotions falls flat
Revisado: 12-10-19
I was hoping for something more inspirational than recitation of prayers, with only tertiary storyline to inspire real devotion to our Blessed Mother. The book is not bad, just somewhat bland when it could have been truly awe-inspiring. I do, however, recommend it for someone who may want to learn and use additional Marian prayers that might not be overly familiar. Some good insights.

Historia
Meg Murry, her little brother Charles Wallace, and their mother are having a midnight snack on a dark and stormy night when an unearthly stranger appears at their door. He claims to have been blown off course and goes on to tell them that there is such a thing as a "tesseract", which, if you didn't know, is a wrinkle in time. Meg's father had been experimenting with time travel when he suddenly disappeared. Will Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin outwit the forces of evil as they search through space for their father?

Great book, though the final chapter seems rushed
Revisado: 08-11-18
Incredible story: suspenseful, rollicking, adventurous and deeply spiritual all at the same time. It underscores that love is, in the end, the most singularly powerful thing we all possess. love conquers all.

Historia
Once there was a student who asked the master, "How can I become free of the world?" The reply: "Love the world and everything in it." How do we handle this paradox? By allowing and accepting what is. This is the simple yet life-changing teaching Eckhart Tolle shares in Freedom from the World, a retreat with the best-selling author of The Power of Now.

I enjoy Tolle, but this is often mind-numbing.
Revisado: 10-08-17
Mindfulness, and the focus of true living are often wonderfully illustrated by Tolle, but not in this collection. Thoughts often wander aimlessly, concepts remain unresolved, and the recording itself is substandard. A waste of time and money, and below the standards of typical Tolle.

A self-indulgent, expletive-riddled disapointment
Revisado: 07-29-17
I initially had high hopes for this popular book, although I believe that its gimmicky 'make a decision in 5 seconds' is dangeeous if not just foolish. Imagine acting on the oft-impulsive messages our consciousness feeds us in quick, Twitter-like pace. But, I gave the book a try nonetheless, until this supposed-professional speaker devolved into the depth self analysis, riddled with expletives, that it wasn't worth my time. I'm an avid reader. This was trash.

Historia
Renowned media scholar Sherry Turkle investigates how a flight from conversation undermines our relationships, creativity, and productivity - and why reclaiming face-to-face conversation can help us regain lost ground. We live in a technological universe in which we are always communicating. And yet we have sacrificed conversation for mere connection. Preeminent author and researcher Sherry Turkle has been studying digital culture for over 30 years. Long an enthusiast for its possibilities, here she investigates a troubling consequence.

Obvious and redundant
Revisado: 05-25-17
While I typically enjoy writings such as these, I found this book to be incredibly obvious and horribly redundant chapter to chapter. The message and information contained is both important and practical, but was drawn out to 50+ chapters in what could have just as easily been fully elucidated in more concise form.
