I received an audiobook copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I was sucked in by an amazing book trailer, and unfortunately the book didn't live up to it for me.

Much like the first book in this series, I was expecting to be at the very least creeped out because the main villain in the story is spiders (and I had managed to forget that I read the first book in this series when I accepted the code for this book). And like the first book, this one failed to creep me out.

The story read more like a zombie apocalypse book than anything, with the survivors hunkering down and trying to figure out what's going on and how to get out of it. Add in some government intervention, and you've got the makings of a good outbreak story. Unlike most zombie apocalypse stories though, the government is not taking any prisoners or letting anyone out. I actually really appreciated that aspect of the story, because the trope where no one has ever read or seen a zombie story is a little old.

Overall I give Caught in the Web 3.2765 stars because while it wasn't a complete letdown, it still had its moments.

I received an audiobook version of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

This book did not really work for me. I felt like the narrator (of the story, not the audiobook narrator) seemed rather haughty and full of herself, and maybe some of that is because she is British (and therefore the audiobook narrator is British, and a British accent just sounds somewhat haughty to my American ears). Whatever the cause, I did not like her from the beginning, and because I didn't like her, I didn't really care much about what she had to say about herself and her life.

The reason this book wasn't a complete flop for me, though, is because of the bits set in the 16th century. I loved seeing life through Cassandra and Richard's eyes. If the entire book had just been about them, I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed it much more. Their lives had mystery and intrigue and a little bit of medieval horror and I was hooked when they had the reins of the story.

So overall I give Precious Bones 3.076 stars because I only really enjoyed about half of it

I had started reading this book, with my own eyes, but found that too difficult (because I knew a bit about what was coming). Listening to the audiobook helped me to push past the tough spots so I could experience the story from Daisy's perspective and it was so worth it. I definitely recommend this audiobook.

If I wasn't a fan of Anna Kendrick before listening to Scrappy Little Nobody, I would be now.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I would listen to any audiobook that Jeff Hays has narrated in the past or will narrate in the future. He either used technology to help with the various voices or he is absolutely amazing at voices, even the female voices sounded like actual people and not caricatures like so often happens with opposite gender voices. I seriously cannot say enough good things about the narration for this book.

I believe this book is targeted to slightly younger than me science fiction fans, so it skips over detailed descriptions of exactly how the technology works, which I appreciate. Although some people will likely argue that the way that is done is a copout, I liked it and felt that it made perfect sense for the story, and it kept the story from feeling bogged down by descriptions that would likely have bored me to tears.

I felt like the story moved along at a fairly fast pace, but it didn't feel unrealistically fast if that makes any sense. There was quite a bit of action, but a fair amount of "down" time too, so it didn't feel like the characters were just being bombarded with one thing after another. I guess I could say it was well balanced.

Overall I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and the narration 7 out of 5 stars because it was that good. I definitely recommend this book to sci-fi fans and if you have any interest in audiobooks at all, spring for the audio. You won't regret it.

What did you love best about Hell's Gift?

Rhyan! The idea of a guy willing to do whatever it takes to get his wife is very swoon worthy.

What does Troy Duran bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Troy Durans voices, particularly for Troy (the angel) and Pogo are excellent.

Any additional comments?

This is the first audiobook I've purchased, and it proved for me that audiobooks aren't for me. The story is excellent (I read the book prior to listening to it) and Troy really does bring the characters to life, but I found myself tuning out the book because I'm accustomed to tuning out background noise in my house and I don't spend any time commuting.

In spite of my issues, I would definitely recommend this audiobook to others.
