Historia
Jack Ryan is dealing with an aggressive challenge from the Chinese government. Pawns are being moved around a global chessboard: an attack on an oil platform in Africa, a terrorist strike on an American destroyer, and a storm-tossed American spy ship that may fall into Chinese hands. It seems that President Zhao is determined to limit Ryan's choices in the upcoming G20 negotiations. But there are hints that there's even more going on behind the scenes.

Wonderful Listen
Revisado: 12-15-17
What a great Jack Ryan novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the intrigue, action and involvement of both Jack Ryan Sr. and Jack Ryan Jr. as integral characters. Scott Brick only gets better with his narration. As far as I'm concerned, a narrator can make or break a book for me. I'll be waiting to see who the author of Book 19 will be. I'll be the first in line to make the purchase.

Historia
When Santa Claus is a cop, you better watch out. It’s not looking like a very merry Christmas for San Diego cop Nick Pappas. Suspended from his job, alienated from his family, and persecuted by the press, he’s sorely tempted to turn his gun on himself. Except for his first name, he couldn’t possibly have less in common with jolly old St. Nicholas. But when a local mall decides it needs a secret Santa to help collar some vicious muggers preying on its holiday shoppers, Nick’s persuaded to red-suit up so as to take the naughty punks down and avert a ho-ho homicide.

Nice story about the meaning of Christmas. Narration is good, truth in words of what it is to treat someone like you would want to be treated

Providing Equality
Revisado: 10-20-17
The memoir tells how Malala struggled to stand up for the education of girls and also for the higher education of these girls as they became women. She wanted equality for both sexes. The book did tell of her hardships and victories. However, I found it dull and repetitious. The narrator was at times difficult to decipher but was okay. The memoir may be written for a younger listener than myself. Malala's memoir is a truth others need to realize. They need to understand how the leaders of her country are enforcing these restrictions against her people.

His lawyer doesn't ask, truth or lie
Revisado: 10-20-17
What starts out as a reward banquet ends up as a murder mystery. The two men went to school together. One became a successful lawyer, with quite a lot of wealth, while the other one did not. However, the lawyer has to depend on the help of the person whom he discarded in his younger life, to keep him free from being convicted of capital murder. The book is cleverly written and did not bore me. The narrator keeps the story moving smoothly from chapter to chapter. There are plenty of twists and turns to hold the listener's interest.

Alone Again
Revisado: 10-20-17
Amy is loved only by the young eight year-old girl who bundles the naked infant in her cloak and takes her home to keep. She goes out into the world, alone, at age eighteen and learns how to exist and be outside the walls of a Victorian castle. How can she survive? The narrator did a great job of telling Amy's story. You as the listener, become invested in her life. Amy Snow is a want to finish to the end kind of book. Enjoy!!

Historia
One of the few white kids in a rural Kentucky town, Logan Whyte always kept to his own kind out of self-preservation. He never considered himself racist, but that didn't stop him from falling in with the wrong crowd--one that celebrated hate as much as he fought it--or from ending up in prison for eight years on an armed-robbery charge.

Overcoming Racism
Revisado: 08-18-15
Katie becomes a pen-pal with Logan while he remains in jail for armed robbery. The pen-pals are not to communicate by any other means but writing. However, their letters open up a great desire to talk with one another.
Logan is white and Katie is black. Neither know this about one another. Logan is racist due to being raised in areas where there were more blacks and he was always the lone white kid getting himself jumped. That is until he meets a friend who is white and Logan becomes a part of a group of white teens who protect one another. They do not instigate fighting, the group of white boys are together for protection. However, Logan's best friend instills in Logan racism.
Logan discovers the color of Katie's skin prior to his release. The story is an easy read and helps the reader to understand racism and why people sometimes are racist without actually understanding quite why they feel this way.
Logan and Katie need to find a way to get together as a couple and push away any racism away with understanding and truth.
Olivia Peppersmith, the narrator, did a great job of distinguishing the many character's well. The narration was able to make the novel an enjoyable listen. I would encourage other's to listen to a well written book that teaches how racism creates many problems that are difficult to confront. This is what I liked most about this book. The story follows a consistent plot and is good from the start to the end.
