Historia
The modern conservative intellectual movement began in 1953 with Russell Kirk’s groundbreaking book The Conservative Mind. Four years later, he published a pithy, wry, philosophical summary of what conservatism really means. Originally titled The Intelligent Woman's Guide to Conservatism, this little book was essentially a popular version of The Conservative Mind. Now, a century after its author’s birth, this neglected gem has been recovered. It remains what Kirk intended it to be: an accessible introduction to conservative ideas, especially for the young.

Prophetic. It's happening right now even though it was written 60 years ago . Conservatism is good old fashioned common sense.

Historia
This book exposes the truth that the climate change hoax is a political movement aimed at eliminating capitalism by spreading alarming disinformation that in order to "save the Earth" from global warming, we must reduce carbon dioxide emissions by switching from hydrocarbon fuels to renewable energies. The Truth About Energy, Global Warming, and Climate Change: Exposing Climate Lies in an Age of Disinformation reveals a science-based understanding of Earth's climate and temperature that Green New Deal proponents are trying to hide.

The topics are great but very biased toward Democrats and liberals. Too bad the author couldn't be balanced in his approach.

The High Cost of Good Intentions

Historia
The High Cost of Good Intentions is the first comprehensive history of these federal entitlement programs. Combining economics, history, political science, and law, John F. Cogan reveals how the creation of entitlements brings forth a steady march of liberalizing forces that cause entitlement programs to expand. This process - as visible in the 18th and 19th centuries as in the present day - is repeated until benefits are extended to nearly all who could be considered eligible, and in turn establishes a new base for future expansions.

I have seen this going on in the Evangelical church for years. It's about time someone took the time and effort to expose it. Every Christian should read this well researched and written book. The evidence is clear.

Historia
Logic is synonymous with reason, judgment, sense, wisdom, and sanity. Being logical is the ability to create concise and reasoned arguments - arguments that build from given premises, using evidence, to a genuine conclusion. But mastering logical thinking also requires studying and understanding illogical thinking, both to sharpen one's own skills and to protect against incoherent or deliberately misleading reasoning. Elegant, pithy, and precise, Being Logical breaks logic down to its essentials through clear analysis, accessible examples, and focused insights.

Historia
In our ever-more-polarized society, there's at least one thing we still agree on: The world is overrun with misinformation, faulty logic, and the gullible followers who buy into it all. Of course, we're not among them - are we? Scientist David Robert Grimes is on a mission to expose the logical fallacies and cognitive biases that drive our discourse on a dizzying array of topics - from vaccination to abortion, 9/11 conspiracy theories to dictatorial doublespeak, astrology to alternative medicine, and wrongful convictions to racism.

flawed thinking at times.
Revisado: 07-17-24
I loved about 70% of the book. but gave 3 stars because of his disdain and prejudice against conservatives and people of faith. His hatred of Donald Trump and love for Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton without facts and evidence was disappointing. He is obviously a liberal who feels rather than thinks politically. His statements that Evolution and man caused climate change are settled science are concerning since there is plenty of room for discussion. Focus on facts and evidence instead of politics and your book will be better received.

Historia
Author Philip K. Howard attacks the failed ideologies of both parties and proposes a radical simplification of government to re-empower Americans in their daily choices. Nothing will make sense until people are free to roll up their sleeves and make things work. The first steps are to abandon the philosophy of correctness and our devotion to mindless compliance. Howard reveals how America can push the reset button and create simpler frameworks focused on public goals where officials are actually accountable for getting the job done.

common sense with critical thinking skills are a must.
Revisado: 06-29-24
I agree with most of what he layed out. His point that this started in the 1960's is spot on. I classify this as a must read. Very valuable information, especially in light of our political situation and our morally bankrupt society today. The author doesn't have a clue what Conservatives and Republicans believe. He is a Trump hater which he made clear in this book. Let me make something clear. Liberals and the Democrat party are responsible for the issues he brings up and only voting for Republicans can solve them.

Very interesting and well written. highly recommend. Missed the Mark on Intelligent Design, Climate Change and a few others. I knew as I was listening that this author was a Democrat. Critical Thinking skills should be taught in school as this skill is lacking in society today. shame on our education system for no longer emphasizing it.

Historia
This book is about the great moral issues underlying many of the headline-making political controversies of our times. It is not a comforting book but a book about disturbing and dangerous trends. The Quest for Cosmic Justice shows how confused conceptions of justice end up promoting injustice, how confused conceptions of equality end up promoting inequality, and how the tyranny of social visions prevents many people from confronting the actual consequences of their own beliefs and policies.
