KF Breene This is, yet another, amazing book

This is the second time I've listened to this book. Breene is one of my favorite authors. This book is wonderfully funny, and real in so many ways. I can't pinpoint one particular thing that makes this book great... It just is, and I highly recommend it!!

Overall POV

Slow Burn storyline,no epilogue, and final book in series. 3 books in all that I’ve found so far. It leaves me with a bit of an open end. Many ups,downs, hate, love, a true love, that turns into a no trust, then a deserved mutual respect, turn uneasy friendship, to friendship, to finally true love with a much deserved HEA. I wish their had been more development with other characters. Soreal and Emma, the mother, her friendships and those characters. I feel we’re underwritten. I also hoped for children, but no such luck. Only talk of these characters, and the knowledge that Lilith was able to forgive, and allow our main character to finally be happy. She was able to, also, find a love within so she could share the soul of the body she invaded or possessed. However you word it, she allowed herself to feel again, trust again, and love I her own way again. She offered strength to the main character when in desperate need, therefore protecting her, and allowing her to live out her life without anymore interference. It was good. Not fantastic. I gave it 5 stars due to the lessons taken from it regarding good vs. evil. I mean in no way do I believe demons to be go or have souls for that matter, but the storyline was well thought out, and gave true to life lessons, as well as the fiction it is. It was a good to fun to okay, let’s get on with it story, so sometimes 3.5 to 4.5 or 4.6 stars. I just wish there had been one more book, as there are storyline holes that I as a reader feel the author should have elaborated on.

Dear Gods grow a spine

Two reviews in one night. As I never write them, I’d have to say this is a record. The narrator may not have deserved one star, so for that, I would be apologetic, but when you the book says dark bullying, well I really can’t call it that when she is spineless, and wanted to place herself in these boys home. With that said, the book was going well until, the four of them carved her torso up with their initials, and later she actually decided that it was alright. Their is so much more that is wrong with this series that I can’t even say. Everything except rape, as she might have been mortified, but decided she liked it the next day. So, if you are endeared to spineless heroines, or should I say a simple in the head, backwards without a spine dumbass, then enjoy.. I will be returning the series. I thought it would get better…it definitely does not.

I’ve only written 4 or 5 small reviews in about 8 years of being a member. I would say the book is a 4.5 star rating for me. Reasons, I am not sure If this is the last book in the series. If it is not, and Breene continues with Hanson’s story, along with watching the baby princess grow, then this rating would and will be a 5. There is so much action in this book,sex scenes, a scene with heart breaking (break down in tears and sobbing moments,) edge of your seat, betrayal, cowardice, and so very much more. Spoiler, we get a baby… K.F Breene put so much of herself into every chapter that I listened to, until the epilogue. I wasn’t a chapter, or even a few pages. We got two POV’s, and I found that incredibly weak. There are major characters in this book. After the last battle, there was no chapter follow up on it, it went straight to about 10 or so minute epilogue, and that was disappointing, 20 plus hours of truly not wanting to stop listening, yet the author gave us no other choice. Is it worth a credit… if you have listened to all of the books like I have, then yes, just be prepared. If you have not started listening… the series is truly fabulous, but the epilogue can make or break it, and I don’t want to say it broke it, but I will say it did take a huge part of the reading or listening experience away from what was an epic book series. I’m am discovering that a lot of authors are doing this, and it is a huge disappointment because it does leave the reader needing and wanting more. I feel like if they can go into a chapter on what I will say are MANY sexual encounters between the mated pair, then what the hell is going on with a more than subpar, at best, epilogue. This is my opinion. There are people that I am sure will think it ended perfectly, as a true lover of reading, I would disagree, and hope the Breene reads these reviews, and takes it under consideration because I felt ripped off. I truly gaped when I realized the book was truly over, and I’m still shaking my head in disappointment.

Now what

I do not write reviews. I will check off the stars and close it off. I truly enjoyed this novel. My hope is that S.P. picks up on Haleys story with the dark goddess. for that matter, each of her sisters deserves their own HEA. My only hope is S.P. will crossover all of the great main characters into the next book(s) that she does. Here is hoping she does. Here is hoping that if she does, that hey wind up on Audible, as there is nothing more frustrating than when a fantastic author stops doing audio books.

cliffhanger beware

this rating would have been a 4.5 or even a 5, but alas we are left with a cliffhanger. what was Loki's gift. What happened to the devil in the void. I would personally like to know more about her friendships after she disappeared, and her fae friends in the destroyed tree. More about Death and his power. Is it a one off again, and we were not told if he went back to his original look vs his aging look. wi) there be a spinoff to this novel. if so, then my rating will improve if not, and you like unfinished stories, knock yourself out. how disappointing....

need to be a 3rd book. it felt unfinished. what appended to her sister. what will happen with the new king. aka Laura's brother. anyhow, the story was good but incomplete.

Good luck. You have to get past the HORRIBLE narration first. Worst narrative I’ve ever attempted to suffer through. Gave up after 3rd chapter. It deserves zero stars.

LJ Shen dropped the ball on this one. The prologue wasn't needed, as it was never mentioned again in the book. nope... not one time, so why put an epilogue in there that has nothing to do with the the heroine as even a memorable moment. This book is about abandonment issues, the mob, a semi-corrupt or just, poster board definition of a dysfunctional family. skip to the end, even with a half assed marriage proposal, "I love you," wasn't mentioned by either of the main characters. she thought it, and 4 years later he gave the strangest proposal of all time.
In short, the book was mlm mostly about the above mentioned, and catching the bad guy by two teenagers, one who's dad is a mobster, trys to catch the other bad guy....
like I said... Shen dropped the ball on this one BIG TIME, and I love her work, so for me to say that is pretty damn big!
