Historia
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Great protagonist. Truly awful dialogue.
Revisado: 03-20-21
The family relationships and the experience of being inside the protagonists head were very well done. The magic is indeed “sufficiently advanced”. That aspect and the homage to D&D is fun. It’s pretty hard to overstate how poorly the dialogue is written, however. Thoroughly cringey more often than not, and I don’t say that lightly. The prose is all over the place. Bad at times. Passable at others, but in rare moments, great.

Historia
When a traveling bard stumbles into a dragon's den, he is forced to tell stories or end up being eaten. Eventually running out of tales to share, he makes a deal: for his freedom, he will return with new sagas of adventure, romance, and bravery. Tales of the Dragon's Bard is the story of one man's quest to collect the most exciting stories he possibly can, and Eventide is the first town he encounters. With wish-women, gnomes, a centaur farmer, a resident Gossip Fairy, and a blacksmith dwarf, those living in Eventide have enough going on to keep the Dragon's Bard busy .

Such a Delightful Book
Revisado: 11-15-20
Such a delightful book. Every character is a caricature, and I mean that in a good way. Every other line has double meaning and the comedy is very frequent. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

The First Third is Excellent.
Revisado: 11-15-20
I loved the first third. Very well written and thoroughly enjoyable. A material master class in writing a unique but relatable personality. The second third was alright. Creative, imaginative and fun in its own way. The last third, though. The part about Rachel, was awful. It starts out alright, but then devolves into nonsensical profanity that just keeps going and going. I stopped this book with 25 minutes to go. I’ll probably miss some big payoff, but it’s not worth it. I tried really hard to give this book a chance. I can only recommend the first narrative of the three.
