Predictable
Revisado: 12-18-23
Characters were not likable even once you got to know them which takes way too long. An endearing yet complex heroine would have made this story much much better.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Hard to put down- a Great Girl Adventure!
Revisado: 12-02-23
I really had low expectations for this book. Dragons, Magic, young adults have been overdone.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Storytelling very good. Character development- excellent. Reminded me of Divinci Code with the fast pace. What a fun read!

Historia
It is 1890, and in the days before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are visited at Baker Street by a new client. Eve Allerthorpe, eldest daughter of a grand but somewhat eccentric Yorkshire-based dynasty, is greatly distressed, as she believes she is being haunted by a demonic Christmas spirit. Her late mother told her terrifying tales of the sinister Black Thurrick, and Eve is sure that she has seen the creature from her bedroom window. What is more, she has begun to receive mysterious parcels of birch twigs, the Black Thurrick’s calling card.

Sherlock would approve !

I consider myself a Sherlock ala Sir Conan Doyle person so it was a surprise and delight to listen to this Sherlock mystery. Characters were in keeping with the original and the story was sufficiently satisfying.

Historia
Inheritance is an audiobook about secrets - secrets within families, kept out of shame or self-protectiveness; secrets we keep from one another in the name of love. It is the story of a woman's urgent quest to unlock the story of her own identity, a story that has been scrupulously hidden from her for more than 50 years, years she had spent writing brilliantly, and compulsively, on themes of identity and family history.

Self indulgent and
Revisado: 02-12-21
This sounds harsh but the reality is that the author wrote a book about paternity and what it means to her, not anyone else.
The more interesting question would have been- how many are out there (Sperm donor babies) and how are they actually having a different experience than others? I say this because this is the specific cross the author bares. Everyone has a cross. So if this is so different, how?
And furthermore, she never answers the question of inheritance in the legal sense. Do sperm donor babies have claim to their biological fathers estate? A question that goes unanswered but is the elephant in the room after one gets past the authors self indulgent melee of emotions and realizes her blond haired, blue eyed self is not related to her dark featured, Jewish dad. It was a challenge for me to remain engaged and if this wasn’t assigned by my book club, I would have deleted from my Audible library two or three chapters in.
I was, however, pleased that the author finally gets out of her own way halfway through the book. Her son has a different biology than she first thought and he has had health issues. Now that’s important. Yet, he reacts like I did when he first heard the news that plagued his mother’s mind for months. He just wanted to know what kind of hair his grandfather had. A reaction I can get behind.
Lastly, I feel used. This book parades as a significant book by a featured author. It’s really a peek into one persons psychological file and gives someone who lives an examined life already, nothing to little to learn.

Masterful concept of time that I can use today
Revisado: 01-27-16
Where does Time Mastery rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very high. The author's voice is aptly animated and appropriately dynamic. I can tell she has a sense of humor as well as an excellent rapport with the leaders she studied.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Time Mastery?
The most intriguing part is Step 7 - Build in Rest and Recovery. I never thought of that! If one is to fully deploy the first 6 steps, we will need a well-deserved rest. Nice!
Which scene was your favorite?
The summary in Chapter 10. Nice to have it all tied up neatly in a 2-minute bow!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It's just over 1 hour. About the time I spend in the car daily when I work locally.
