Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Great read. Nothing too heavy, just entertains. Well written, well narrated and an original plot. This made a lot of sense by drive fly by (I didn’t want to turn it off when I reached my destination…I switched to ear pods!)

A testament to the strength of women
Revisado: 09-04-21
This story had me crying both happy, and sad tears. I wanted to put it down, but the story gripped me so that I just could not. So well written, and performed that I was transported back in time. What these women endured is almost unimaginable, and I came away from this feeling both appreciation of their strengths & understanding of how far we have come since those times.

Didn’t even finish it. Narration was annoying
Revisado: 02-23-21
Sorry, but this wasn’t a favorite. The stories were entertaining (if not a bit exaggerated), but the narration was not good. My husband is a pilot and aviation buff and after giving in an hour into it to give it chance, he asked me to find something else. Money wasted.

Gifted storyteller Winston Groom, the best-selling author of Forrest Gump, has written the fascinating story of three extraordinary heroes who defined aviation during the great age of flight: Charles Lindbergh, Eddie Rickenbacker, and Jimmy Doolittle. These cleverly interwoven tales of their heart-stopping adventures take us from the feats of World War I through the heroism of World War II and beyond, including daring military raids and survival at sea, and will appeal to fans of Unbroken, The Greatest Generation, and Flyboys.

A trip back in time by a perfect storyteller
Revisado: 02-23-21
I’ve been trying to introduce my husband to audiobooks for the longest time. He loses interest too soon. Not this time. We enjoyed listening to this audiobook while doing a lot of driving on vacation and we honestly couldn’t wait to get in the car so we could hear more. He is a pilot, vintage plane collector, and an aviation buff. I didn’t think he could learn anything new about his hero’s, but he indeed did. What is really surprising is that I enjoyed it just as much. I rented the book as a compromise expecting that I could endure it as long as he was enjoying it. I may have enjoyed it more than he did. I learned so much about our great aviators in this story that was perfectly written & performed.

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Wow! On par with The Nightingale. A must read
Revisado: 02-23-21
This one is destined to become a classic. I have not read anything from Kristin Hannah that I didn’t enjoy, but this one in my top 2. The topic, storytelling and performance was amazing. As a descendent of dust bowl refugees, I learned so much about the type of hardships they must have endured. I have heard family stories from my grandfather, but this book actually took me there. I now understand why my grandfather could no bear to waste any food or throw just about anything away. My heart hurt for the characters in this story, along with the people that actually lived it. They story brought out so many emotions, and was entertaining and educational. I couldn’t put it down (or should I say turn it off 😜) This is an amazing story about how we can endure so much more than we can imagine. Especially relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Binge worthy audiobook
Revisado: 09-17-20
This story, along with the perfect narration, was one of those rare books that you just can’t put down (or in this case, turn off). It took maybe 15 minutes, and I was hooked. Kristin Hannah’s books have been among my all time favorites. Her stories draw you in and immerse you in the characters & setting so that you feel as if you are right there with them.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

A must read. Very memorable
Revisado: 03-28-19
I spend a lot of time driving. Audiobooks make my community calming and enjoyable. I have listened to more than I could possibly name. Some are more memorable than others. This story is one that kept me captivated and entertained at all times. The words and the performance were outstanding. I have recommended this to all of my friends and don’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone reading my review. There is no doubt that Where the Crawdads Sing will be one of the very few books that I am willing to read again and again. It’s that good!

Historia
The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

It’s probably not Molly’s Fault, but this is a RIP OFF!
Revisado: 01-15-19
I love Molly Harper books but....
Having said this, I’m annoyed (as I see are the majority of people reviewing here) that I wasn’t told up front that this book is really a “part one” teaser and that I would have to buy “Ain’t she a peach” if I wanted to finish the story. This book just ends suddenly and doesn’t even mention the next book. Had I not went on to find & then buy her next book, I would not have known that there even WAS an ending. This is a horrible marketing practice (I assume a greedy publisher’s attempt to double their money). I am giving this a one star review to show how much I detest this practice. I would have rather been charged more for the full book than be “teased” into buying the second book. This was deceitful and as such, I will be thinking twice and checking reviews more carefully before I buy any more of her books. #MollyHarper

Revisado: 07-02-18
A very captivating story. It was a wee bit predictable, but not enough so that I lost interest. The narration (I enjoyed this book in audio format) was suburb. I highly recommend this story and would bet that it will make it to the big screen someday.
