Impressive beginning!
Revisado: 07-03-23
Overall, this story was entertaining and is a great foundation for the rest of the series. I was left wanting book 2 immediately! The fact that I'm a movie nerd made this book especially interesting, creating a connection with Elise that I hadn't expected. The narration was good, but not spectacular. I felt the characters could have used some more distinction between them, but the lack of distinction didn't really alter the effect of the performance. Can't wait to listen to book 2!

Historia
For Marnie Barnes, realizing she’s a Mary Bennet is devastating. But she’s determined to reinvent herself, so she enlists the help of her bubbly roommate and opens up to the world. And between new friends, a very cute boy, and a rescue pup named Sir Pat, Marnie finds herself on a path to becoming a new person entirely. But she’s no Lizzy, or even Mary—instead, she’s someone even better: just plain Marnie.

A wonderful twist to P&P!
Revisado: 09-22-22
The writing and narration of Being Mary Bennett held my attention so well that I stayed up til the wee hours of the morning to try and finish it. Marnie can be a bit much at times, but she is realistic. So much so that's I found myself responding to her thoughts out loud! I love that J.C. Peterson made this their own story while beautifully paying homage to Jane Austen's original. I'm looking forward to Lola's story and hope for many more!

If you need a laugh, pick this one up!
Revisado: 04-04-22
At first I was nervous with so many points of view that the story would get confusing, but it didn't. I haven't laughed this much during an audio book ever. It was sweet with a bit of heat and distinctive characters. I'm glad the author combined them all into one story since she easily could have split the stories into 3 books as I've seen others do.

Excellent narration and story!
Revisado: 04-12-21
Wow! Rebecca Johnson did a fantastic job bringing Jenetta's story to life. The books themselves are incredibly well written, but the addition of narration really let the story shine. Highly recommend listening to this one!

I had already read the book, but when I found out there was an audio version I jumped on it. Jill Smith gives a wonderful performance with her narration. She brought the characters I love to life! I highly recommend this one for the narration and story.

I didn't realize before reading this one that it's a prequel to the tv show. I really like the premise and characters of the story. The narrator was wonderful and added a great dimension and life to the story.

Excellent narration for a great geeky story!
Revisado: 10-10-19
Wil Wheaton was the perfect choice for this nostalgic high-tech adventure! As a huge fan of 80s movies his narration added a wonderful acknowledgment to the fans. While I enjoyed the movie adaptation, I felt the plot of the book is decidedly more interesting. You can tell Ernest Cline has a passion for the 80s and had fun with the obscure and amazing 80s references.
