Historia
Eighteen-year-old Aidan Salt isn't a superhero. With his powerful (and unpredictable) telekinetic abilities, he could be one if he wanted to, but he doesn't. He's unambitious, selfish, and cowardly, and he doesn't want to have to deal with all the paperwork required to become a professional superhero. But since the money, fame, and women that come with wearing the cape are appealing, he decides to become the first supervillain the world has seen in more than 20 years: Apex Strike.

Neat concept, poor characters
Revisado: 04-05-24
This was an interesting concept and could’ve been a really great story. There were some pretty funny parts, but it was very hard to get past. The main characters view of the women in the story. At one point, he says “I had never talk to her, and then I remembered what she looked like naked and forgave myself for not thinking of talking to her. “. I know he’s a teenage boy, but this seemed really lame. Did not finish because I was tired of listening to this.

Not a fan of the writing
Revisado: 03-13-24
This book is written very much in the style of most fanfiction, overly heavy metaphors, extreme emotional reactions, unbelievable science and technology. Every problem is solved by simply having some “ advanced tech, not yet on the market”. Every single character is the expert in their chosen field and so on. If you liked made for TV sci-fi movies you’ll like this. If you went into it like me, expecting a horror book, you’ll be disappointed.

No character building
Revisado: 03-01-24
This story provided very little character building/character relationships prior to jumping into what seems like a bizarre, fever dream. We’re supposed to believe in all these amazing outstanding character traits, but there’s been nothing other than 10 minutes of build up to show who they really are. The storyline moved very quickly through a lot of really weird hoops. I would return it if I hadn’t listened too far to get my credit back. Will probably not finish.

Historia
Ten years ago, six friends went on vacation. One made it out alive... In that instant, college student Quincy Carpenter became a member of a very exclusive club - a group of survivors the press dubbed “The Final Girls”: Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who endured the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape the massacre at Pine Cottage. Despite the media's attempts, the three girls have never met.

Revisado: 02-25-24
I thought I had it all predicted but I was wrong! Pretty good story, it was billed as a horror book on several reviews and it was more a thriller than horror.

This was a good mix of thrilling and funny. I was worried it might turn into a cliche ‘special ops hero’ story at first but I really enjoyed it.

Cheesy, terribly narration
Revisado: 10-25-23
The storyline was ok, however the writing and dialog was pretty cheesy and the overly deep and forced voice the narrator did ruined it. Could have been better without the dramatics. Would have returned it if I had used a credit but unfortunately I bought it on sale.

Riddled with gore, vulgarity and dry humor. I could not stop listening. You fall in love with the protagonist. The narrator was perfectly casted.

These are the stories that defy conventional logic. The proverbial vanished without a trace incidences, which happen a lot more (and a lot closer to your backyard) than almost anyone thinks. These are the missing whose situations are the hardest on loved ones left behind. The cases that are an embarrassment for park superintendents, rangers, and law enforcement charged with Search & Rescue.

Disorganized and disappointing
Revisado: 05-10-23
I really wanted to like this book, it’s a great concept. The story is so disorganized and not at all what I expected. Way too much about Bigfoot. I’m only finishing it because I can’t return it. Disappointed in what could have been a good book.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Horribly clunky and cheesy
Revisado: 11-24-22
I have about 1.5 hours left in this book and cannot believe I’ve made it this far. The writing is terrible, clunky and stiff. The character’s interactions are frustrating in their one dimension. This is my first Preston & Child’s book and it’ll be my last. Stuck around because of my interest in the Donner Party but it’s not worth it!
