Interesting Lead Character and Layered Plot
Revisado: 03-15-16
What made the experience of listening to Bad Traffick the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed Leine Basso's no-nonsense, kick-butt personality. Being a mother and an empathetic person, it's disturbing to think and read about child sex-trafficking. I do appreciate Ms. Berkom for bringing the problem to light. SPOILER ALERT! I was really glad the good guys won as well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Leine was my fav character. She is the most developed, and as such, is more complex and interesting. She's very driven and holds her own against men.
What does Kristi Alsip bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Well, I love audio books in general. I'm completely pulled in, but am able to do other things. I don't know that Kristi stood out from other readers, but she did a fine job. Her voice fit the mood and the main character.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
One woman who stands for justice, takes on a world of crime and corruption.

Life and death tale with hostages - fast paced
Revisado: 02-17-16
What did you love best about A One Way Ticket to Dead?
I loved the unexpected turns and Kate's quirky way of looking at and describing things. I like it's all written in her voice, and I like that it is always on the move. Very engaging.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A One Way Ticket to Dead?
Again, I don't want to spoil things, but Kate's reunion(s) with Sam satisfied the romantic in me. There are a bunch of other fun scenes, skydiving and battles.
What does Melissa Moran bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice is well suited to Kate's character. I think Kate would sound like her. Does the narrator change the story? That's a hard question. It's always difficult to compare reading to listening. She did a great job, if she did more it probably would have been distracting.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This is a fun, sometimes funny, tense, fast-paced thriller. I think it's not meant to be moving. But it is a great escape, a fun world to inhabit for 5-plus hours. That feat can move me to tears if I'm doing laundry.
Any additional comments?
Great descriptions, Kate has a strong character and she always stays in character.

Great heart-racing thriller
Revisado: 02-05-16
Would you listen to Yucatan Dead again? Why?
Yes! Because I loved it. When I listen to audio books, I'm often doing other things and miss nuances. So when I find a book like this one, with an unusual plot, intriguing characters, and a different writer's voice, I enjoy listening a second or third time to pick up on things I missed the first time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Yucatan Dead?
So I don't include a spoiler, I'll just say, Kate's transformation. I also liked the author's descriptions, and Kate's quirky personality.
Which scene was your favorite?
This is a pretty nonstop read, so there's a lot to choose from, but I enjoyed Kate's water escape. It was scary in more ways than one.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Against all odds, Kate Jones stands and fights.
Any additional comments?
I love the twists and turns the plot makes. The book is full of memorable characters that are fun to root for. It's also an unusual mix of humor and tension, ala, Pulp Fiction or Fargo though not as farcical.
