Painful narration
Revisado: 04-13-20
Loved this book. But the narrator was distracting. I did purchase the second book because I was interested in what happens to the characters. I'm willing to put up with the narration just to hear the story. But she is bad. I know others have the same problem with her. Did the author approve this narrator?

I liked the story but I found the narrator too annoying to stay with it. It was like she was reading a children's book. Just couldn't hold my interest enough to finish.

Raymond Jaffe feels like he doesn’t belong. Not with his mother’s new family. Not as a weekend guest with his father and his father’s wife. Not at school, where he’s an outcast. After his best friend moves away, Raymond has only two real connections: to the feral cat he’s tamed and to a blind ninety-two-year-old woman in his building who’s introduced herself with a curious question: Have you seen Luis Velez?

Another reviewer described this book as absolute perfection. I read the book because of that review. She was right. Best book I've read in a long time. Thank you, Ms Hyde.

Revisado: 06-29-19
I listened to this and the first book. Story was okay. Location was nice. Most memorable thing about both books was the way the main character's stomachs twisted, lurched, fell, rose, clinched, felt sick , even took flight. Every emotion seemed to center around their seemingly delicate stomachs. Not interested in reading the third book.

Historia
When Persephone Lancaster receives a marriage proposal from the ill-tempered Duke of Kielder, she refuses - and then reconsiders. The obscene sum of money he's offering Persephone would save her family from ruin. With her characteristic optimism, she travels to the far reaches of Northumberland to wed a greatly feared stranger. Lodged deep in a thick forest infested with wild dogs, the Duke's castle is as cold and forbidding as the Duke himself, a man with terrible scars on his body and his soul.

coudn't finish
Revisado: 01-01-19
I tried reading this book. But the author is exclamation point happy. I found that too distracting so I thought I would just listen to it. So why is an English person narrating a book about an American from New York? The Americans in New York, the Irish guys, everyone spoke with English accent. Again too distracting. The heroine was mean and selfish. Didn't like her. She was probably going to get nicer as the book progressed. Might have been a good story eventually can't say because the narration was just not suitable for this book.
