An oldie but a goodie
Revisado: 03-01-15
Storm Front is the first book in The Dresden Files series. It took me a long time to finish she as I had to relisten to parts to understand the world building. Once I got my head around that I quite enjoyed it and have continued with there series. It combines two of my favourite genres crime/detective and paranormal.

Tall Pines Mysteries are winners
Revisado: 03-01-15
For The Birds is one of my favourite audiobooks.
It has a great story with a number of twists and red herrings to the mystery. This is coupled with some of the most entertaining characters in a majestic setting.
I never expected my favourite character to be a bird named Ruby but she is delightfully sassy.
This quirky mystery with a senses of humour should be on everyone's TBR list. I can't wait to read the whole series.

Until Emma notices something very unusual - Sadie displays a high degree of intelligence. Way intelligent.

Not for the faint hearted
Revisado: 03-01-15
This was not your typical YA book. It deals with themes and scenarios that may be unsettling for some readers. They were certainly very unsettling to me and as it is an audiobook, you can't skim read. There are several scenes where there is animal abuse and it deals with cancer and dying as well.
May people have loved this book but it was not to my taste and I was not expecting it to be so unsettling before I began.
I also felt that the narration did not match the characterisation well.

The safest place they know is about to become the most dangerous… Marcella's husband, Quinn "Black Eagle" Hollister, severed ties to his family and friends on the Seneca reservation years ago. He rarely mentions his past-until his young cousin Kitty collapses on the couple's doorstep in the dead of a rainswept night. Love the Tall Pines Mysteries!
Revisado: 02-21-15
This is the third installment in the Tall Pines Mystery series. I have read (and loved) the first book and I'm running out to find the second book.
The story telling in this series is exceptional. You are drawn in deeply to a multifaceted mystery at the same time you find yourself invested in the lives of the characters. There is wit and charm in these flawed but loveable characters.
Reading these books is fulfilling because just when you think you're at the end or the place where many authors would leaving you hanging because the mystery is solved, Lazar keeps going to finish the stories of the characters. A follow up on how they are after the out come and hint of what is to come next for them. These stories are as much about the people and their relationships as they are about the mysteries.
The narrator did a fantastic job of bring the characters, suspense and emotions come alive in this story. I look forward to listening to more of her work.
There are two reasons I couldn't give this book five stars. They are petty reasons but I feel that I need to be consistent. The first was that my very favourite character, Ruby, was hardly heard from and she was most who I wanted to hear from where I pick up this book. The second reason was the nature of the crime. I know that crimes are not sweetness and light and buy reading mysteries and crime fiction I have to expect to come across the gritty but that is how I feel.
If I reread this book it would be for there characters not the crime where as I have reread For The Birds and it was for both.

Avast land lubber! Feast ye ears upon this tale
Revisado: 11-24-14
What did you love best about The Legendary Adventures of the Pirate Queens?
I just loved this tale of Mary Read and Anne Bonny and their pirate adventures.
What did you like best about this story?
Goldin artfully contrasts two very different experiences of women on the high seas. Mary Read is compelled to conceal her sex and masquerade as her late brother, Martin Read. Whereas, Anne Bonny does not need to conceal her. Sex, in contrast she uses it to her advantage and is a legend in herself. The two women come from vastly different backgrounds, express contrasting values yet complement each other to be a fearsome duo.
What does Shiromi Arserio bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator, Shiromi Arserio, brings the characters and the story to life. Her singing of sea shanties takes this audiobook to the next level.
Any additional comments?
This is a fun and entertaining story of hi jinks on the high seas.
