Historia
Morgan and Devon Gregson Bennett are an interracial creative power couple living happily enough in Brooklyn until a freak accident leaves a little girl orphaned in Los Angeles. Setting aside reservations about the price motherhood will exact on their marriage and careers, Morgan and Devon agree to adopt Vabeh, a bi-racial ethnic-hair-products heiress. Vabeh touches down in New York, wearing last season’s fur and on a mission to quickly distinguish herself from the other bold-faced names at her new school, the tony School for Spoiled Kids.

Jonathan Swift, move over!
Revisado: 08-14-22
What an original and witty send-up of the art world. The carefully drawn details make the characters and situations completely real. Brilliant concept for kids to mirror this specific cultural milieu and its machinations. High art satire!

Historia
Augustus Rodin was not only the greatest sculptor but also one of the most remarkable personalities of modern times. Frederic V. Grunfeld's exhaustive biography, the first in over fifty years, documents a lifetime of both artistic and personal struggle against poverty, against the conservative Salon, and against an art establishment that for years denied him recognition.

Cringe-worthy French pronunciations
Revisado: 12-20-21
Why choose a narrator who can't pronounce French words to read the biography of a French artist? I winced too many times while listening to this lengthy book. Especially over the frequency of the term "bas-relief" sculpture, which Vance pronounces as "bass-relief." Oy.

Historia
Composer John Cage sought the silence of a mind at peace with itself - and found it in Zen Buddhism, a spiritual path that changed both his music and his view of the universe. "Remarkably researched, exquisitely written", Where the Heart Beats weaves together "a great many threads of cultural history" (Maria Popova, Brain Pickings) to illuminate Cage’s struggle to accept himself and his relationship with choreographer Merce Cunningham. Freed to be his own man, Cage originated exciting experiments that set him at the epicenter of a new avant-garde forming in the 1950s.

Narrator needs better pronunciation
Revisado: 12-20-21
This narrator flubs any French word, or pronunciation of artists' names (like Paul Klee). He even pronounced the word "matte" as two syllables. Distracting and annoying.
