On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Historia
Samantha Heather Mackey couldn't be more of an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA program at New England's Warren University. A scholarship student who prefers the company of her dark imagination to that of most people, she is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort—a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other "Bunny", and seem to move and speak as one. But everything changes when Samantha receives an invitation to the Bunnies' fabled "Smut Salon"....

Narrator was great. Story was awful.
Revisado: 12-05-23
I've never wished I could get a credit back before. And, honestly, I've listened to some stupid books. I saw this all over BookTok. It had rave reviews. I have no idea why. It's outlandish. Hard to follow. Childish. Boring. It was hard to even get through. I kept sticking out because I heard how awesome it was. The ending was awful. Nothing was wrapped backed up. Think twice before getting this.

Not a fan of this author. This is the 3rd book ...
Revisado: 10-01-23
This is the 3rd book I've tried by this author. I don't under the hype. These books are very mid. They are not clever, not thrillers like advertised. This moved slow. I had higher hopes for it. But, it was boring. The end wasn't exciting. If you are a real thriller reader these books are not it.

Too Slow. Took way Too long.
Revisado: 10-01-23
Got this in a sale. Read some of the reviews. I was expecting a thriller type book. It moved so slow, it was hard to keep going. It didn't hold my attention. Stayed until the end. All just to be bored. No awesome ending. Narration was good. If you are a real thriller reader, this isn't for you.

Historia
As the chief forensic anthropologist for the FBI’s Chicago field office, Christine Prusik has worked her fair share of bizarre cases. Yet this one trumps them all: a serial killer is strangling young women and dumping their bodies in the steep, forested ravines of southern Indiana. With each victim, the killer leaves a calling card: a stone figurine carved like the spirit stones found among the native tribes of Papua New Guinea—the same tribes Prusik worked with a decade earlier while doing field research.

4/5 Stars - TikTok Made Me Me Do It
Revisado: 03-03-23
Tik Tok got to me. I got the book without reading anything about it or the reviews. Reviews are biased anyway. I liked it! I'm mostly happy the author got a revival. I wish he had more books. This book is good, clever and like all other books has 1 or 2 minor annoyances. Over all worth the listen. For reference, I'm a big Karin Slaughter reader and this felt like a mild version of a KS book. 4/5 stars. worth the listen.
