Mistitled and misunderstood
Revisado: 11-24-24
A brutally partisan view of democracy through a fractured lens. Makes numerous errors, omissions, and mischaracterizations of fact in a clear attempt to blame every flaw in our republic on the Republican party, even before it was the Republican party. Some good history and well thought out general concepts are sprinkled throughout, saving this from being a completely one-sided waste of time.

Ease of review
Revisado: 08-18-24
Great way to listen to and review these highly impactful areas. I own the book, the Kindle, and the Audible version finally got my through every chapter. Listen on your commute, on a walk, on a bike ride, but listen because this is packed with great information.

Historia
Democracies can die with a coup d'état - or they can die slowly. This happens most deceptively when in piecemeal fashion, with the election of an authoritarian leader, the abuse of governmental power and the complete repression of opposition. All three steps are being taken around the world - not least with the election of Donald Trump - and we must all understand how we can stop them.

misleading title
Revisado: 07-29-19
Should be titled"How Democracies Die," a view from the left. Great history that is placed into context using examples almost exclusively from the right and fearmongering over Trump.

A brief, but insightful look at history shows the evolution of combat, the development of the physical and psychological leverage that enables humans to kill other humans, followed by an objective examination of domestic violence in America.

Great book, but Chapter 17 was cut off. Frustrating to miss the final action sequence.
