Worst of the series
Revisado: 11-14-23
I love Amy Clipston books and this series has been great until this one. This book was extremely frustrating. Over and over the characters are stubborn and annoying. Hopefully the next one will be better.

Glad to have SN back as narrator
Revisado: 05-24-21
After the last book was read by an awful narrator, I was worried this one would have the same one. I was very pleasantly surprised to have SN back to read this one. She’s fantastic and the story is fantastic! I wish the first one in this series would be redone and narrated by her instead.

It is 1893, and the first generation of immigrants who came to America for the promise of free land and a good life for their children have finally achieved their dreams. They labored hard on the land and now have a bountiful heritage to pass on to the next generation. However, many of the young people aren't interested in becoming farmers - they have aspirations of their own. Thorliff Bjorklund has been writing stories and plays since he was a young boy and longs to attend college to study journalism. But his father has other plans for him and refuses to agree.

Narrator made it hard to pay attention
Revisado: 08-31-20
I love Lauraine Snelling’s books especially the books I affectionately call “Ingaborg’s”. I read this one in print and loved the story. But the narrator’s fake accent, inflection and speed of speaking made it very difficult to pay attention. Other books in Snelling’s series were easy and enjoyable. I just couldn’t make it through this one though.
