Historia
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

Too Religious
Revisado: 09-13-18
I did not realize that this was Christian based romance book. Towards the end it got way too preachy and ruined my enjoyment of the story.

Historia
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

slow start
Revisado: 08-06-18
interesting story idea but I thought this would be a while story, not just the beginning of a series. There was good character development, but half the book was spent introducing and developing the characters and story line. Not bad things, but when they take up half the book it feels betty slow. Most of the action takes place at the very beginning and the very end.
I did like that is was set in the Middle East and that there were many things were normal in this setting that are not common in Western based stories, for example the clothes they wear and that the predominant religion is Islam. It's good to have a YA story that normalizes being from that part of the world.
Not sure I will get the next book of the pace is the same as this one.

Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. Wish I'd had a Warning
Revisado: 10-01-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
a highschooler without realworld experience
What character would you cut from The Next Always?
The stalker. Really. Please. There is one and he is creepy.
Any additional comments?
This book should come with a warning! The book ends in a situation where the main woman is attacked by a violent, psychotic, narcissistic stalker.
While I enjoyed the beginning of the story and loved the main and side characters I wish someone had warned me about the main story line. The summary for the book sounded sweet and endearing so I thought I'd give it a try. But, halfway through it took a turn for the worse. One of the characters, who you could tell was going to be an annoying headache, turned out to be a narcissistic stalker. This turned me off the book in a huge way. The character/ scenario was unfortunately too believable seeing as how the character in question was shockingly like real people that many women have to deal with on a daily basis. I'll admit that my view point might be a little skewed after past personal experiences and hearing about the experiences of many of my close friends, however it was disturbing to have my nice light charming romance novel degrade so quickly into a horror and terrifying story. The ending was happy, but only because of the interference of a friendly neighborhood ghost. If there has been some warning I would not be so violently against this book, but coming as it did out of the blue really disturbed me up.
This romance turned horror nightmare kept me listening for many hours after I normally would have taken a break to go to bed because I knew I could not stop before the ending otherwise I would have nightmares. While I like staying up because I was too engrossed in a book to put it down, feeling forced to do so was a different matter. Like I said I loved the main character and how the guy took on the kids and how they became a family the interactions between the woman and the man, the kids and the guy etc really made me smile. Nora Roberts also has a gift for writing about different careers and situations in a way that makes them absolutely fascinating. She made me want to learn more about architecture and the buildings I live and work in because of the main character. I just wish the story had remained that way. Or, had a hint or a warning of what was to come. Probably wouldn't sell quite as well but it would help women who have been in a similar situations (and let's be honest what woman hasn't been in a situation where the guy thinks she's his property and won't take NO for an answer?) not stay up an extra night terrified of falling asleep or of going out to work in the morning. sorry for the TMI but someone had to write this review.

Any additional comments?
By halfway through the book I was mentally begging the terrorists to kill everyone and be done with it. The FBI characters were so self-motivted to the point of stupidity. I often could barely listed to audio book, I just kept thinking "really? Really? are you that dumb." The heroine was ok, but not that interesting, and the guy supposed to be rescuing her was more a jerk than anything. Honestly I ended up disliking almost every person in this book.

Prior to the U.S. entering WWII, a small coterie of British spies in Washington, D.C., was formed. They called themselves the Baker Street Irregulars after the band of street urchins who were the eyes and ears of Sherlock Holmes in some Arthur Conan Doyle stories.

lots of info but borning
Revisado: 12-22-13
Has The Irregulars turned you off from other books in this genre?
maybe
Did Simon Prebble do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
there were not any characters in this book. Or, more correctly, there were characters but they never spoke directly enough for us to know their voices it was all narrated what they did and said.
Any additional comments?
The book has a lot of info but it is written like a social calendar not like a book on the amazing, creative and daring activities of the "basker street irregulars." True most spy activities are probably not exciting, but unless you enjoy hours and hours of listening to what parties one man went to listed out then you will not enjoy this book. Also, this book focuses on one man and touched briefly on many of the others, but even after listening to the book for 8 hours the character was flat and dull. I was also often was confused about when the activities took place. I could not keep a time line. I would often think we were months or years a head of when the actual event being described took place which was most disconcerting. A very thorough review of the facts, but one that is hard to get into.
