Historia
The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century. Spanning decades, Sheeran’s story chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries, and connections to mainstream politics.

One of my all time favorite audiobooks
Revisado: 11-26-22
I’ve listened to this audiobook 4 times now over a 2 year period, never ceases to impress me how great it is. Despite the heavy nature of the content matter, the listening experience is a delightful refrain.
Some Thoughts
- For a piece as long as it is, it feels tightly written, succinct and with voice.
- The scope of the story astonishes me on every re-listen.
-It’s ripe with details.
- The narration couldn’t be more perfect.
- On every re-listen I find something new.

Feels like a blog that I would have ignored
Revisado: 10-26-22
Production value is high but in terms of ideas
nothing particularly insightful. The author gleams over a handful of basic tracking techniques and introductory talking points, all of which really put the “manage” in time management. Heavy maintenance tasks such as these aren’t typically helpful to most listeners. Rather what is needed is a fresh interpretation of simple principles, that can be used as guidelines.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Great story, and love the really unique way the narration was done. Such an interesting effect for the voices but feels very appropriate for the tone of the novel. Well done.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Brilliant all around
Revisado: 03-13-21
I don’t give a lot of audible reviews, and I have high standards ie am hard to please, but this book is great.
I also don’t typically enjoy memoirs, as I feel celebrities don’t often have life experiences worth sharing. Trevor Noah’s book is the exception for me. I haven’t seen much or any of his content, but this book is great. It’s also a great intro for those not familiar with South Africa, he writes with his audience’s naïveté in mind and breaks everything down for you.
The latter chapters that deal with class, and neighborhood, and posturing really hit hard. Check this out, you’ll enjoy it, I still re-listen to it.

Should not be an audiobook

This is designed as a reference book for speakers looking to poach anecdotes for their own speeches.
This is essentially just a listing of sample anecdotes.

Historia
Humans live in landscapes of make-believe. We spin fantasies. We devour novels, films, and plays. Even sporting events and criminal trials unfold as narratives. Yet the world of story has long remained an undiscovered and unmapped country. It's easy to say that humans are "wired" for story, but why? In this delightful and original book, Jonathan Gottschall offers the first unified theory of storytelling. He argues that stories help us navigate life's complex social problems.

FAKE REVIEWS
Revisado: 03-31-20
I am reporting this to amazon, these reviews are fake.
This book reads like a bad Wikipedia article. There is no way all of these people gave generic 5 star reviews for all quality’s, when the narrator can’t even pronounce simple words like ‘the’ properly.
Clearly the seller copied and pasted some trite, slapped a title on it, and paid an eastern asian lady presumably a low rate as a virtual assistant to read his copy and paste out loud. Fake.

Practical Solutions
Revisado: 06-20-19
Right away I knew this was one of the most important Books I had read this year.
Filled with practical solutions I started implementing immediately, where as other books I’ve read (self-improvement and otherwise) focus more so on why the phenomenon of the modern world occurs, why novelty smart phones are such a challenging distraction etc. this book forgoes l a lot of that exclamation and jumps right into practical workarounds.
Removing the email and browser from my smart phone, and only accessing those things from my laptop is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My mental competency is vastly improved I feel like I can think clearly for the first time in who knows how long.
