An interesting look at one mans bias
- De C. Walker en 04-13-21
Biased
Revisado: 03-04-21
The author spends a great deal of time talking about bias as it relates to research findings, then spends a majority of his time presenting his biases to the reader on a silver platter. If there's something negative to say, he finds a way to say it. If there's something positive to say, he finds a way to avoid it. Chapter one is pretty good, but you'll need more than a grain of salt for the others.

Historia
After standing at Donald Trump’s side on Election Night, Cliff Sims joined him in the West Wing as special assistant to the president and director of White House message strategy. He soon found himself pulled into the president’s inner circle as a confidante, an errand boy, an advisor, a punching bag, and a friend. This is the story of what it was really like in the West Wing as a member of the president’s team. It's a story of power and palace intrigue, backstabbing and bold victories, as well as painful moral compromises, occasionally with yourself.

A Book of Excuses
Revisado: 02-17-19
This is a book, not prime time tv. The bleeps of curse words are ridiculous and annoying. The man reading the book has a very monotone voice, and I found my mind wandering off to other things.
I had hoped for a book with some insight into a campaign and Presidency like none we have ever seen. Instead, it is a book of excuses for a weary conscience that seems to still be grappling with what it has done.

Historia
The story is set circa 1790 in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (based on Tarrytown, New York), in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow. It tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lean, lanky, and extremely superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut, who competes with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town rowdy, for the hand of 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel. As Crane leaves a party he attended at the Van Tassel home on an autumn night, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman....

Got Bored

Would you listen to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow again? Why?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the story. The narration was good, albeit a little cheesey, but not engaging enough to get and keep my interest.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Excellent Performance
Revisado: 11-01-14
What made the experience of listening to Dracula [Audible Edition] the most enjoyable?
It's Halloween, and I wanted to read something seasonally relevant. I'm not good about reading - I get bored - so I don't think I would have made it through the book had I tried to actually read it, but the audio performance was so well done that I didn't want to stop listening.

Revisado: 11-01-14
What did you love best about Customs of the World: Using Cultural Intelligence to Adapt, Wherever You Are?
Another excellent work by The Great Courses. It's nice to step back and see the world from a different perspective. Not because my view is any better or worse, but because it's different. Professor Livermore is interesting, insightful and very easy to listen to. There was sooo much good information presented that I'm actually looking forward to listening to it again.

Basic SEO tips
Revisado: 11-01-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Good basic SEO tips, but way too much non-information to trudge through to get it. If you're just starting with SEO, this audiobook may be worth your time. If you have any SEO experience, it will make you want to poke your eye out with a spoon.

One of Those Books You'll Listen to Again
Revisado: 07-14-13
What did you love best about The Help?
The story is so well written. You actually get to walk a mile in the shoes of each of the characters, see what they see, feel what they feel.
What other book might you compare The Help to and why?
I am not a big reader of books like this for lack of time, so I have no comparison. The Help has inspired me to begin my search for more like it.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This was narrated so well that I feel like I didn't just listen to it, but rather watched it. I can't wait to see the movie now.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I lost plenty of sleep listening to this book! When you finally force yourself to turn it off, you feel like a child who was sent unwillingly to bed.
Any additional comments?
You won't be disappointed.
