Good initial concept, finally forgetable

Unexpected gem

This was a story out of place an unexpected in all the right ways. A story that builds its characters gently but rich depth. All the emotions any great story should have, but wrapped in a genre that is normally very 1 dimensional (sorry for the pun). I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the Alien franchise, or any reader who would just love a great ride through an a beautifully scaled and balanced story.

Good story

The story is fun and has good action sequences; however, the narrator keeps pulling the listener out of events with a lack luster rendition. I am not sure if it is the tone of the book or the execution of the story but I does not lend itself to this format very well. I can't fault the narrator as I think the story is one better enjoyed on the page than being read aloud. All in all it was a fun read and I will finish the saga but I will most likely enjoy the remaining books outside of this format.

This is just a fun nostalgic ride through a wonderful story! Ernest Cline has done it again and I only wish there was more in from this author as both books he has written have hit me in the feels, reminded me of my childhood, and played to all of my interests. His work is a treasure to all the nerdy loves of my life and picking up one of his stories is a fun time travel to the past. It's really like he grew up to write stories about everything I day dreamed about as a kid a secretly still do. Thank you Mr. Cline, thank you very much!

More a story of Darth sidious than Plagueis. Interesting in parts but a mostly flat story far removed from the other expanded universe stories that carry their own legends. The Darth Bane series far exceeds this one dimensional view of the origin story of the emperors rise to power.

Overall the entire trilogy is a good listen; however, the ending feels a bit rushed with how the story was concluded. While I know all stories need their own conclusion this one felt limited in the justice it paid to one of the most iconic characters outside of the film. I enjoyed the series as a whole and highly suggest it to any who love the star wars universe.
