Very generic apocalypse with the only twist being an internet attack a.k.a. a firesale. Characters shallow, story predictable if you've read these before.

Space is random, erratic, stupid, dark, glorious and gigantic. And us bacteria don't generally understand crap just happens. Imagine being stuck in the middle of an intergalactic struggle and humans not having a clue what's going on the whole time with random events having Earthshaking consequences that could matter on the galactic scale about as much as a fart in the wind.

That's this book. It follows a Maine guy, who is the dumbest and smartest person alive. Or just the right person in the unluckly situation? Who can say. Either way the story is excellent, with good pace and throws random twists at you in ways you won't expect.

Buy a ba-na-na and enjoy it, you barrel of monkeys

This is cannon, not Disney's trilogy.

I can't wrap my head around why Disney didn't try to build off this. They had a perfectly good story just sitting there. Turn it into a frigin movie. That's all they had to do. The Force Awakens wasn't terrible, but then with episode 8, everything just fell apart.

We should have had Thrawn. A true anti hero to follow and admire. . . and fear. Instead we got an ineffectual evil that died 2 movies in and had to be replaced by clone Palpatine in a poor way. Let's face it, episode 9 had no chance after 8.

If Disney wanted a more diverse cast this book series already had it. By all accounts Mara Jade IS the best Jedi in the universe by the end of her story, and she's not marry sue Rey. Talon Carde is a Spanish accented smuggler. Hell throw Lando in there for some more screen time(even Disney was stupid enough not to do that)

This series is peak Star Wars, and the audiobook is amazing. The narrator can nail Han and Luke's voice, with background effects to bring it all to life. My only quip is Leia sounding off(should've brought a female in to voice the female lines)

You won't regret this book if you're an OG trilogy fan.

You will regret that this isn't the 'cannon' of the universe by Disney standards. In my eyes, this is the true sequel

I knew Collin, the guy who designed the Star Wars Death Star, X Wings etc. He shared the exact same views

The performer of this audiobook does an exceedingly good job at making separate and unique accents for each and every character, helping to draw the audience into this classic tale of fantasy good vs evil. The story includes your basic heroes journey, but it shines in the lore building fleshed out over a 10 book novela that builds the perfect setting for the story its set in. Any fantasy enthusiast should give these classics a listen.

Mediocre Story Worse Narration

I feel like this story was written by a math gaming nerd who did a tour on a submarine. The story is lukewarm in originality with planets rebelling against earth empire. It tries to be mathematical and logical but comes across as loose. The ships are all round because spheres have the most circumference ergo they are the perfect design for space ships because you can cram the most stuff in them. (wut there's a hundred issues with that logic). Also the fate of the galaxy seems to rest on a few individuals in both nations and almost no context is given to the literally hundreds of supposed planets in this universe. On top of that the narrator sounds like a generic dude who can only do generic dude and generic old dude voices. wouldn't recommend

The narrator had a commanding albeit inflexibile voice that keeps your attention, but offers nothing new. The story itself is a fascinating look into American covert operations in WW2, specifically with a focus on the European theater. It details harrowing stories and the exceptional mission of soldiers conducting espionage and 5th column actions. The downfall is the story looses itself in the background of ww2 often devoting too much to the generic history of ww2 which is ironic, because one of the first things the author complains about, is not enough time to tell the millions of stories. If only he had realized that his main audience would be those that already know ww2 and don't need a repeat history lesson, he could've fit a fair bit more into the book. The ending note is ironic too, how all of the success in ww2 culminated in the US intelligence success in Afghanistan and US victory(lol yeah thats a little outta place now). Otherwise a good read and highly recommend

This writer is full of himself. The kind of guy that likes using too many words to describe everything, lulled on by a monotone narration, this is good if you need something to out you to sleep and nothing more

The book is a good fiction based around the fall of Saigon and the helo evac at the time of the pilots. It provides a good standard towards events as they happen and provides a great story on the exploits of the main character in his SAR missions. The narration is OK. You can clearly hear everything but the narrator sounds like some airmen from the 1950's and his voice fluctuations are nominal. still worth the listen

They use old style technique to to blend in sound effects to this story with top notch voice casting per character which brings the overall performance up. Never played the game but the story itself holds up. a little generic but the superb voice casting and effects landed in a unique setting gives a heck of a lot of life to this audiobook. Recommend for anyone who's into action thrillers

The story is a fantastic vision of a surprise assault by NKA forces on ROK and UN led forces.
Small Spoliers below-

Led on by an environment of an evaporating South Korean economy and the international community beginning to give on support for the South, the Dear Leard of the North smells and opportunity. It builds well on the advances of both factions and their strengths. The end of the novel is...OK. The rest will keep you on the edge of your seat chapter by chapter, led on by excellent narration with defining annunciation and easy to following listening. Highly recommend this for any of the military inclined studies
