Great book, not so great audio performance

Main thing that annoyed me was the reader's constant spelling out then saying all acronyms. This is especially annoying when it's an acronym heavy repetitive section. Not sure why not just say the acronym vs spelling it over and over and over again.

Good content, editor should be fired

I like when authors read their own work but the publisher that failed to edit the recording should be fired. They didn't silence the breaths which are ridiculously annoying. Every audio book I've listened to have these edited out/silenced.

I wanted to like this, I really did.

where to start. First, you need to be a fan of Doug in order for this to be listenable. If you are not a fan of Doug Stanhope that you might as well pass. After that the performance was pretty bland. It lacked any kind of depth or emotion during the reading at points where it would have made sense and communicated more of the feeling that the words were trying to otherwise without their. the story in the book itself unfortunately is split between rather empty plot lines about things that do not make sense to me or do not have any kind of point. However, the story regarding Bingo and her medical challenges we're probably The Shining Light that saved the book. In the end I really wanted to like this, I did. I do like Doug and his style of Comedy. Unfortunately the book needed more love

Boring. Nothing unique and mostly personal life

I was expecting more about politics of herself and her dad along with the current political climate. Instead it was more of just an abbreviated autobiography. It focused mostly on her dad getting sick and her time on The View. Not really what I was expecting.

A bit predictable but good narration

Entertaining nonetheless despite predictable dramatic story points. The ending was basically a duplicate of almost every alien film made. That was a let down as well as leaving the very end open.

Awful performance

Authors reading their own books is usually only done for 2 reasons. The first being cost, they save money. The other is because they have a unique voice/personality where it ads to the performance knowing it's the author (celebrity books as an example).

This author went with option 1 and it killed the book. I couldn't stand the voice/delivery and had to turn it off. The author's voice is annoying unfortunately (I don't intend to be mean, it just is).

I really wanted to enjoy the book but that simply wasn't in the cards as a result.

Great insight into the president

Michael Cohen is a bad man who has done terrible things. He is probably single handily one of the main reasons Trump is president. His accounting of the tales of his role in Trump's rise does come off a bit self absorbed a bit. Much of what is in the book is more of what we already know and have heard. If anything it serves as further confirmation of all that. Sadly Trump fans will believe whatever they're told to believe no matter what.

Much better than the film.

For once a film novelization adds some gems not in the film which was refreshing especially since the film was somewhat meh to begin with.
