Historia
The Royal Society of London plays home to the greatest minds of England. It has revolutionized philosophy and scientific knowledge. Its fellows map out the laws of the natural world, disproving ancient superstition and ushering in an age of enlightenment. To the fae of the Onyx Court, living in a secret city below London, these scientific developments are less than welcome. Magic is losing its place in the world - and science threatens to expose the court to hostile eyes.

A Very Fitting ending to the series
Revisado: 06-01-23
I thoroughly enjoyed the Onyx Court series and find Marie Brennan’s writing and imagination delightful. A mixture of history, fantasy, intrigue, romance, with a little humor on the side. She has become one of my favorite authors.
I also found the narration to be exceptional!
I look forward to more writings and readings by these artists.

Even those who take no interest in the field of dragon naturalism have heard of Lady Trent's expedition to the inhospitable deserts of Akhia. Her discoveries there are the stuff of romantic legend, catapulting her from scholarly obscurity to worldwide fame. The details of her personal life during that time are hardly less private, having provided fodder for gossips in several countries.

Can’t stop listening
Revisado: 05-23-19
I am hooked. I just finished In the Labyrinth of Drakes after I had also gone quickly and anxiously through the previous books in this series. I am entertained am thoroughly impressed with the intellect and planning and craftiness by which Ms. Brennan has created these stories. I cannot wait to start Book 5.
Ms. Reading is amazing in her performance and ability to voice the characters with such distinct individuality. Bravo!

Revisado: 07-26-18
Albeit, a little predictable, but loved listening. I tend to stick with more non-fiction material. This was worth my change of pace to just kick back and enjoy. Honestly, I probably avoided a few other things I should have been doing because I wanted to listen more.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Extremely mousing! Incredible storytelling!
Revisado: 07-06-18
I’ve read/listened to several of Fredrick Backman’s books. I think he’s in the top three of my favorite authors now. He tells those real stories about real things that happen with/to people on their life’s journey. They may be fiction but Backman’s writing tells of the heart of humanity, the struggles that are shared by many in finding where they fit in.
Beartown tore at every heart string I have with raw honesty, clear insight in experiences that characters went through that could easily be experiences of the real people around us.
I did not particularly care for the selected narrator for this book however. I find some narrators fit perfectly while other come up short.

Historia
I Am, I Am, I Am is Maggie O'Farrell's astonishing memoir of the near-death experiences that have punctuated and defined her life. The childhood illness that left her bedridden for a year, which she was not expected to survive. A teenage yearning to escape that nearly ended in disaster. An encounter with a disturbed man on a remote path. And, most terrifying of all, an ongoing, daily struggle to protect her daughter - for whom this book was written - from a condition that leaves her unimaginably vulnerable to life's myriad dangers.

With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. I could listen to more.
Revisado: 07-13-15
It seems twisted to say I liked Alan's book very much, because of his experiences. I couldn't stop
listening to him narrate his memories, in large part because so much of his story is also my own. The abuse we endure as children, if that is your history so much effects who we become and the choices we make. Some of us are lucky enough to move passed the ugliness and find a way to be happy and I'm glad that your story has a better now than then.
